Panda (Classic) My Blue clx.

Introduction

Well I didn't realise I'd never started a members motors thread for this one until I couldn't find it! Am starting to get it up together to use again as it's been stored for over a year now I think, but first I'll do a quick re-cap on the story so far.

Bought on ebay in Oct 2009 this was how it looked........

It had 21,000m on the clock and looked as if it had been garaged for all of it's life. The side trim on the front n/s was missing and it drank fuel, but these were the only issues, solved with a new trim and temp sensor unit.

Will continue tomorrow.
Love this panda!! i think some clear seicento side repeaters would look good, match the front clear indicators... I think looking at them the panda ones are the same as cinq ones and you can just swap the plastic lense over from a sei to a cinq so reckon it would be as simple as twist off, change bulb for orange one and twist new lense on..

Thanks blu73, I'd forgotten that I haven't done this yet. Your suggestion is a far simpler solution to mine, but unfortunately I've now got a stock of clear and smoked lenses for the MG/Rover lights.
I must admit I do prefer the rectangular ones, but always like my wheels to be round. ;)

Short update for the record.....

Well nearly another year gone and very little to report. I have had the windows tinted recently, very subtle as I wanted the door windows to match the back, I'm not a fan of having just the back half of the car done in a dark tint and the front left alone.

There are legal limits for the front side windows so to get all tinted windows to match means keeping the level of tint at the legal limit for all of them.

It's very subtle in bright sunlight, a little more noticeable on a dull day, just what I was after.

Apart from driving it occasionally that's all I have done. No engine swap, in fact I may not even bother. With all the other swaps I have going on I really don't need another one, that and the fact that the engine that's in it is so nice I'm reluctant to disturb it.

Sometimes I think I'll just sell it and let the new owner decide, but then I think of how I will miss it  It's a tough decision but one I fear needs to be made soon.

Is it a tint film Vernon? Expensive?

Is it a tint film Vernon? Expensive?

Yes it is. I've done it myself in the past with cheap film and it's never stood up to close scrutiny, so this time I had it professionally done by the same people who fitted Gertie's windscreen. I liked the work they did on Gertie so didn't bother to shop around, but if I did I'm sure I could have got it for less.

PM sent.

New shocks are on, and while I was at it, purists look away now!

I cut a coil off the front spax springs. It's made little difference as it happens but I think it sits more evenly and drives just the same.

While I was at the front I finally renewed the scuffed front bumper, The damage was there before I bought the car so it's removal was well overdue.
Do you still have enough pre-load on the spring after cutting a coil when it is up in the air. ??

I cut one coil off a spax and it was just too short after, rattling around with no load on after. I think if I had cut 0.95% of a single coil it'd have been ok..
Measure it and mark it next to shock as short as you can and it still have a tiny bit of pretension is what I did on second attempt
