Technical My big brake conversion

Following on from here here are the results of my front brake conversion:







These were punto 1.9 JTD calipers, with EBC groved vented discs, and EBC green stuff pads.

They are the more recent ATE calipers with the spring.


I will type up a guide at some point, but it really wasn't too hard.

I hamerite'd the calipers poorly as i was rushing and fitted them without setting, and as i did it off the car, i painted the runners (doh!) but they still look great.

now its just the boring period of bedding them in and I can give a proper analysis

Looks brilliant filling out those wheels! Weird observation...got the same axle stands Love every aspect of the conversion, engine included

Those axel stands are OLD lol, were my grand fathers, over 20 years old, and could do with a bit of rust treatment.....nice and small for our small cars though. Many are WAy to large unless you want to drop the engine out underneath lol

Yeah same with mine! I don't know where they came from, their my Dad's which were most likely handed down from my Grandad! Maybe its a tad dodgy us using stands that are rusty and older than us to hold 800 kilo cars above our heads

Same callipers as mine, in the saem colour! Looks good tho - are your callipers pretty cosy to the rim too ?

Yeah, there is about 1cm clearance, but then with the balancing weights being in line with it, there's about 0.5cm. Still loads of room really though.

Would hate to think what would happen if the weights come loose though lol.

Vyzerá to skvele, keď vypĺňa tie kolesá! Zvláštne pozorovanie...mám rovnaké stojany na nápravy. Páči sa mi každý aspekt prestavby, vrátane motora.

Boli to brzdové strmene pre Punto 1.9 JTD s drážkovanými vetranými kotúčmi EBC a zelenými doštičkami EBC.

Sú to novšie brzdové strmene ATE s pružinou.


Niekedy napíšem návod, ale naozaj to nebolo až také ťažké.

Zle som opracoval brzdové strmene, pretože som sa ponáhľal, a namontoval som ich bez nastavenia. Keďže som to robil z auta, natrel som aj klzáky (super!), ale stále vyzerajú skvele.

teraz je to už len nudné obdobie ich uspávania a ja môžem podať poriadnu analýzu

Did the calipers fit onto the Cinq' carriers, or did you also use the Punto carriers?
