Will do but can be upto 12 weeks! The spec is a qubo without the little triangle windows! Need the van one so can use it for work & pleasure !!! 4 seat is homologated for goods transport & the 5 seat is homologated for passenger transport ! So 4 seats it was!! Only thing with the 4 seat is you still pay £220 road tax not the £30 lol

This is just SO WRONG. The brochure for the Fiorino goes to great lengths tell you how low the running costs are and minimal emissions etc. followed by; "As of today, nothing is impossible any more". Well I'll tell you something that is, arguing the toss with the Govt. It's plainly double standards - on a car you get a cheaper rate for low emissions, for some reason when it goes into 'commercial' they screw you for every penny and having low emissions makes no difference. Once upon a time I owned an Aixam Megavan and it was such low emissions as to register almost nothing on the test machines (2-cyl Kubota diesel) yet the Govt branded it a 'quadricycle' like the sort that farmers use thus giving it a tax band of £100 even though it should be free or £30 max on emissions/payload/seating capacity whatever. I did several hours research on the Govt website for all types of small commercials and fuel consumptions, GVWs, emissions and so forth and came up with a long letter to an MP. I absolutely tied him in knots with his own gobbledygook making a complete nonsense of any of the related items of emissions and weights etc. but I only got an acknowledgment of receipt of my screed and later a dismissal saying it was 'Govt. Policy' which was how it was and that's that.

Quad-200.jpg200cc Quadbike
BOTH these are '"Quadricycles" and taxed at £100 although emissions will be negligible

There are sections of policies (or whole policies!) which need rewriting and motoring in general is one of them.
I bought the Fiorino for economy.
Years ago diesels were deemed to be far more economical, manufacturers improved the engines many-fold and fitted them into all sorts of cars (Jaguars!) and the Govt encouraged their use. So motorists went out and bought them. Diesel fuel prices then rose until they were the same as 4* (where previously they'd been about 30p/gallon less) and ultimately surpassed the petrol price. A con by the Govt. of course. Next, fuel was sold by the litre - a measure we don't use in an Imperial measure country - then we see 1 litre costing 137.9p
Only a Govt. could sanction a price using a fraction of a penny which doesn't exist in your pocket. How is that legal and why not a whole unit - and why 0.9p?

Rip Off Britain is alive and well - are we powerless to do anything about it?

Since I now have 'my beast' I thought I'd post up a piccy of a non-white van!

IMG_1057.jpg

When the guy eventually replies, is at home and I can get down south, I (hope) I have a set of Blades waiting to pick up to go on it.
Aluminium roof rails in the post as I write (removable cross-bars included), mudflaps I'm still choosing, mats also.. Rear load protector already in but I think a fitted durable carpet would make a big difference - to sound proofing as well, though finding the floor D-ring mounts will be fun!

Hope you like it.

It's the 199A Speed Red. (Looking at the brochure the darker one is metallic)
Funny thing happened on my way out to a job this afternoon, a GPO van was speeding towards me on a rural lane (they use Doblos) and the postie flashed me thinking I was a GPO van too. I waved politely

The roof rails came today so I have to understand the MFI-style pictorials to assemble those and fit them - job for the weekend I think. Link here although I got the last set currently available. They are closed end unlike the Qubo ones that have a free end (and are a round profile).

I think the side door on the pax side is standard, one on the driver's side is an extra. Also I added Comfortmatic gearbox (has stop/start as standard, default position is 'off)', cruise control, rear windows with heaters, rear wiper, electric mirrors, Blue & Me, Satnav prep, rear load area protection, ESP (includes Hill Hold), Alarm, Air-con, folding pax seat, pax airbag, steering wheel controls (and due to the other stuff it's a leather one) and a load area light with detachable torch. I also asked for mudflaps but wyb I was told I had requested 'too many extras' and had to delete something so they were knocked off. I ask you - I was paying for the whole lot so whatever was all that about?? Inexplicable.

It's very quiet and very economical. The Auto gear changes are a little peculiar at times though one can easily override them or leave 'auto' off and do it yourself. I can't really see why auto boxes have changed so much in the last 10 years to have these clutchless ones that are conventional just with a servo clutch. Suppose it's to save money, changes usually are.
I'd be interested to know if the Qubo's auto box is any different, like 6-speed as you feel that a 6th gear would be great for motorway cruising and the economy would be even better. 5th is c. 2500 rpm at 70mph.

You did not forget you're wallet when you were at the dealers! Mine is the 75bhp was thinking it may be a bit low on the power! But 2.1 mpg it must be working a bit hard! Lol  did you get a good discount?? My van booked at £18,100 with my xtras! With discount it was £13,000

I had a test drive in Chesterfield and followed up a link I found on the internet where I had a list of options that added up a tally of costs on the page. Miraculously they are based about 100 yards from the place where I drove the Fiorino.

I think it was about £3000 under the full list price but does anyone pay that?
The 2.1 mpg is a funny one..it had 14 miles on the clock so I drove to the gym (12 miles) and brimmed it at a Shell garage there (to get my points!) and have been counting miles ever since that one. It's hard to enter the first fill up as there was 'some' gas in there to start with. It might well give an inaccurate reading for ever more given that the first one looks so low. Fuelly allows you to edit details of each entry. I could try guessing the level I first had and seeing how many miles I go to ¼ full and adding that mileage onto the total. It'll even out better from that than 2.1 mpg - that's more like a Chieftain Tank!

The 75PS engine is quite nippy - there's a lot more underfoot still to unleash but I'm being gentle for at least the first 1000 miles though I can feel it has some ooomph. I wanted a 95PS engine but the auto box isn't available on the 95.

A couple of niggles which are no doubt things I'll get used to or seek assistance here to sort out if they can be.

1. The Lock/Unlock alarm beep. Far too loud and if I could disable it I'd go and do it right now. I rather like the *tchk-tchk* that cars on TV do though I doubt any car does that in real life.
A sheep bleat would be preferable to what it does at present :woot:

2. The dash lights could do with being on at startup as the dials are all black and the lines of detail are spidery white so they aren't clear for glancing into when having the contrast of the great outside in the windscreen. This is where you really need a wiring diagram (and a Haynes manual)

3. WHY WHY WHY does the radio go off when you turn the engine off? That is SO annoying. Then you press the on switch again and it stays on for 20 minutes and goes off again. What if I'm having my lunch? That's worth a :bang:

4. Luigi says you can arrange for the sidelights to come on with the ignition but as yet I haven't found that in the Menu options.
Now Luigi, if DRLs are on with no lights and go off or dim when you activate any lights from the switch, why would you want the sidelights on at startup as that would immediately knock off the DRLs

5. As mentioned before - where is my 6th gear?

6. I don't think there is a No. 6 (yet) and I can't edit this post to add one after about an hour of it being posted.

Happy with it so far anyway although the Auto setting on the gearbox is a little presumptuous at changing up in the wrong place and not letting you go down a hill in 5th, it cogs down to 4th or even 3rd. I suppose since there is no fuel being used when you go downhill without the gas on, it's using the engine as a brake. I was always asked by my driving instructor if going down a steep hill and changing to too low a gear, "Which is cheaper to replace, a set of brake pads or a gearbox?" I'll ask that of Blue & Me next time it happens. It's totally cool to press a button on the steering wheel and call out a name in my phone and it rings it ;) (y)

I looked at the white adventure at chesterfield at van world!
How did you decide to get a fiorino & not a bipper or nemo??

I did a lot of research (as usual) and the ultimate 'make mine a Fiat' decision was the Moose test video on Youtube. (English version - Which? - cut down and borrowed from the German version - this has full results)
The Nero (burns while Romeo fiddles) and Bopper weren't contenders following the reviews I read. The Fiat engine was noted as being different and better than the unit put into the P and C plus ESP is available as an option (should be STANDARD Signor Fiat) so I went for that. Also I haven't ever owned a Fiat, I thought the badge on the Peugeot is too large and Italians are reputedly good at vehicle engineering so - Fiat won.

Today I was watching the Range and mpg as I drove to Hickling (Leics) down the new shiny A46 and back after lunch and the ultimate consumption is 52.5 mpg and the expected range will be about 550 miles on the tankful. That's great for the first tank I think. Hopefully it will just improve as the carbon seals up the gaps in the engine. Much better than the 22-28 I get in the RAV4..

Nice to see the mpg on the good numbers!! Isaw the moose test to! Looked bad! I needed the smallest van out so at first I looked at the bipper because was having my car serviced and it was in the showroom but i needed it with rear seats and thay do not do them! Went to see the nemo! Same story! Then fiat could do it! Don't no whyThe others carnt, thay do the people carrier! But read some stuff on the net and fiat came out on top! So I am very happy with my decision!!

Nearly at fill-up time. I drove from Sheffield to Rotherham and back today and the Range remained at 47 miles left the whole time. Only when I went up several steep hills did it begin to drop.. I'll have done about 420 miles when I go to brim it in the morning. That is so good to see. On a long run I think it will do far more.

A slight wonder at the thinking behind the doing of something, what's the point of Hill Hold not working the whole time? There must be an inclinometer in the car to know when to cut it out and start it working again. It was very handy to have on the Smart car but on that it's full-time and it needs to be.
Really want to find out if I can get the dash lights on from start to finish of a journey, the pod is really dark. Does anyone have access to a readable wiring diagram?

Roof rails were fitted on Friday night. Instructions translated from Turkish I think.. Tricky job lining up three long bolts inside rails over a 6' 6" length, on a roof standing on one stool! Got there in the end ;)

The smarts hill hold on the wife's car is good to ! My transit van has the part time hill hold ! At least I now no to expect the part time hill hold on my fiorino when it turns up! :bang:

I don't know the age of your wife's Smart but on my new one (11 plate) you could hear the HH 'running' via the radio and the whistle/buzz/whine/hiss stopped as it let go. It did work all the time though whatever the incline and I favour that. How can Fiat specify one incline is enough and a lesser one doesn't warrant HH?

Since a lot of stuff is going on under this thread, I'll carry on with a previously mentioned item, the dark dashboard.
I noticed, going under a load of trees yesterday afternoon, that the gear selector idents are illuminated all the time regardless of light switch settings so if I can pick up a feed to that and the switched feed from the lights to the dash and tee into it, I think I may solve the gloom that is my dash. Sounds like a bit of a job and some dismantling too. I'll have a look first to see where the cover screws are and how accessible everything is. Oh for a Haynes manual.

LUIGI please can we have the pics you promised, of the rear door camera and how you mounted it and also the perspex blackness of the rear doors...?

One think I noticed by accident yesterday, When I got in the van, before I set off I turned to look over a shoulder (expecting a side window still - ha!) and inadvertently pressed my knee against the door handle.. It locked the van!! I tried it again later on to see if I had knocked it coincidental with setting off and the auto locking working but no, it does work - press the opening handle inwards and it does the locks.

her smart is a 13 plate and HH makes no noise at all. Has your HH always made that noise!!
