Just thought I'd post this pic of my Uno 1100. Fitted wind deflectors to the windows yesterday.

Cool! The wheels really jazz up your Uno, don't they.

I think those 'wind deflectors' are actually more so that you can have the window open a little even when it's raining, useful on muggy days in slow traffic, and especially for people who have to smoke in their car! The deflectors are popular on cars in Japan (which end up in NZ as used imports).

Since most of the air travels up the sides of a car (try watching water drops on the window when driving), the Uno was designed without the gutters that conventional cars (in 1983) had. The up-the-sides air flows smoothly into the slipstream over the roof. I think almost all cars are like this now.

Therefore I'm not sure of the high-speed aerodynamic merit of attaching a scoop facing downwards (wind noise?), but there's definitely the benefit of being able to open the window without rain falling in, which was always a weakness of not having gutters. Let us know how they go?

Thanks for the comments Alex. The wheels are locally produced Tiger wheels and they make a huge difference to the appearence of the car. As for the wind deflectors, I took the car out today and was able to drive comfortably with the windows open about 2 inches, which made the car a lot cooler on the hot day we are having. I'm pretty sure that they'll be useful in the rain too, it'll be nice not to get dripped on! :)
