Grande Punto My 1.2 Active GP Black

Introduction

So this is my baby. I call her Phoebe lmao. now a list if what ive done/doing to her.

  • Tinted windows full black on rear windows
  • Tinted front windows to legal requirement
  • added wind deflectors
  • added punto decal (white) on the sides above skirts
  • added punto decals to wing mirrrors
  • punto overlay on rear middle break light (see pictures)
  • removal of punto badge on boot
  • added Aux lead to radio
all very basic things that set the car off nicely

things im currently doing:
  • alloys. already purchased there being delivered wednesday morning (silver multispoke wolfrace 15")
  • debadging front grill. again waiting for it to be delivered then a quick black spray and ill fir that no problem
  • also looking to fix the condensation in rear fiat badge
what i wanna do in the future. well theres only really lowering it that i really wanna do. but price is an issue. not just to have it done but i reckon insurance will rape me if i do that.

so what you think? i will of course post photos weekend of the Alloys and debadged grill. but for now a little imagination is necessary :D

So an update here. I got me some plastidip and sprayed my mirrors because of the horrid weathering and the fact I've gave up on the back to black stuff lol. and I also did my rear badge on the boot. so here's some snaps of my little project and the results

Firstly take your time. Mask everything you can off. It will save so much time in the long run, and don't rush it either patience equals quality :)

So I start on the coats. From all the research Ive done the first coat should be so light its almost unseeable

And after quite a few coats

And how it looks now. I peeled the fiat bit off the badge. Would like to thank Demi from the Panda threads for the fantastic idea.

(the badge has some bubbles behind It from the soapy water i had ust washed it with lmao)

So what you think? I'm also planning on doing my wind deflectors to match the wing mirrors so will update that when I get to it, I'll also be posting a video shortly of me removing of the excess plastidip on the rear badge.

Not a fan of matt black plastics on any car makes them look cheap and more like a base model:confused: and the badge would look much better if the "FIAT" text was also black as at the moment it look pretty odd. Saying that it dose seem to cover quite well.

Also looking at the last photo could do with a polish!:p

Mine IS the base model lmao. And for £15 it's brought the mirrors back to looking new. You honesty have to see them to believe it. Especially what they looked like before with them greying horribly from the weather. And I think the fiat badge looks really nice. Again you have to see it first hand to realise. And lol the car was clean, but once I pulled off the masking tape some of the pieces left residue so I soap and watered it which obviously doesn't give the best finish lol. I'll probably give the car a good wash and wax today :)

Not a happy bunny. My GF got hit by a foreign bloke in a banger old Saxo 2 days ago. The retard was overtaking stand still traffic on the wrong side of the road. My GF was in a turn right box I between hatched markings and instead of stopping tried to beat her turning right into another road. Absolute ****! It's all going through insurance but the car damage looks minimal considering what happened, It looks like its a new bumper, drivers side light and fittings, new wheel arch panel, and there's something now up with the steering. I had to drive it back from the scene and it would not drive straight without me holding the wheel at about 3 o'clock.

Anyway like I said damage looks minimal but I think it's worse underneath. Anyone know what could be the problem with the steering. Could it just be tracking, or is that too much for just a tracking problem?

That sucks mate! If the steering is that bad, there could be damage to the upper/lower track/control arm, steering rack could be damaged, suspension could be knocked off on one side, track rod could be bent, wheel could be buckled also. Best to just get it checked properly and see what damage is found. I wouldn't of thought it'd be anything too serious

Yh my insurers currently have the car for observations, and I'll find out Monday whether its fixable or a write off. I'm hopping for fixable obviously. But not a lot I can do if its too much to fix. Car is worth about £2700 on their books so should be plenty for them to play with so it looks good for a fix. Just got to hope claim goes through now. Because any witnesses just drove off. And now it's his word against my GF's. crapped his pants when I got out of work though and rushed down to the scene. He was Standing there with his foreign mates talking in a different language pointing at my GF saying things like 'stupid women'. I made sure he understood the rules of the road. Pulled him out Into it and pointed out which way he should of been bloody driving. He's lucky I had my wits about me because I was gonna knock him about a bit. I knew the police would of had me though so I refrained lol. But overtaking a car turning right on the wrong side of a road? Surely that can't be disputed its got to be his fault on paper?

So I've finally had my car back after a month. She's basically had a whole new drivers side wheel, suspension, arch lining. Arch panel, bumper, light and bracket. And I believe something to do with the driveshaft? Anyhow the bill came to £2,268 (Woah!). The insurance claim is still under investigation but after many phone calls and information passed back and forth looks like it may be going in my direction. And I'm glad of that. Worst situation is 50/50 claim which I will hate but as long as it doesn't go his way. Which I'm positive it won't. Then I'll feel fine with that. My insurance has gone up £800 BUT because the claims still in investigation they have bad to quote me on worst case scenario. So if and when it does go my way I shall be rewarded with close to £1,200 back because ill retain my no claims etc etc.

So anyway the car. She doesn't look too bad. They've done a lovely job matching the colour. And as soon as I got her back I had a mad spur and ripped off the side stripes lmao. (Don't ask)

But here she is.

Good to hear that the claim should be 50/50 at the worst!
Also repair job looks great and the removal of the side stripe makes the car look so much smarter (y) I even like the matte black mirror caps now:D makes the car look much more stealth. Some Abarth headlamps would make this car look amazing!!

Hi Matthew,

Just to say, read all of this thread and love your car!

Looks very tidy. I thought about getting the same stripes as you but might go for something else. In my opinion your car does look better without the stripes but as you so rightly put earlier in the thread its your car and are free to do with it as you wish ;)

I also have condensation in my badge (whats up with that!?) so i'll be getting that replaced when I get paid :)

Sucks to hear about the guy going into your side but looks like everything is coming up well now anyway (y)
