Hi All

Got a 52 plate petrol SX and im impressed but my hubbie wanted a JTD ELX so i have some questions

We went to have a look at 2 before i said yes to our new bug the first one was at an auction and was just to get an idea of what they were selling for but the second one was a real nice example ........... it was a W reg and was a real nice copper metallic colour had 7mths mot and history .....i was smitten till the other half looked underneath it was a rot box and there were more holes than metal we quickly left ..........

But the above one did appear to have all the goodies electric rear windows, twin sun roof,s parking sensors front and rear (factory fitted) ............. with the exception of the roofs (although my hubbie does say he has a tin opener) but was wondering if everything else was plug n play ????

Also he was wondering if the later face lift models (54) used the same floor pan and if the front sheet metal was interchangeable ???????

And it seems a little lacking in the torque area when pulling away (i understand there not racing cars) is this normal ???

Thanks in advance

If a jtd is lacking in torque when pulling away, the EGR valve is becoming blocked. Fix by either giving it a good spanking at high revs, or if its too bad, getting it cleaned at a garage for no more than 1 hours labour.

I know a lot of people on this forum disagree but i would always go for a newer model if you can. having said that, apart from the nose job and some subtle changes the car is pretty much the same throughout. Later models tend to have all the bells and whistles etc.

In addition, go for a Diesel not the petrol you won't regret it!!

But from the doors backwards they appear to be the same (except the rear lights) and wondered (as i have already spent ALL my hard earned) if it was possible to just unbolt the panels from the later model to put on the earlier model (bonnet wings bumper lights) :bang:

Buying a new model is NOT an option for some

And as for buying a diesel ..........my hubbie has a big head now :D

So back to the top ...are the parts interchangeable (y)

Gotta say I had 2 peteols and a diesel and with diesel was gettin 51 mpg petrol 27 to 32 mpg so spells it out only bad bits are repair costs on them but I would have a deisel all day long
