Ah well, after five years of (almost) faultless service, that's the Multi gone :( - it's been replaced with a five-seat C4 Picasso. Decided we don't really need the six seats anymore.

Things I'll miss; the Multi's distintive looks, the two sunroofs - which never leaked, the three front seats - saved the grandkids arguing about who sat in the front, the superb visibility from the high stance and big windows, and the car's reliability. Which may be a surprise to some on the forum! :)

Things I won't miss; it's appetite for front springs! :bang:

First impressions of the C4 Picasso - it's light years ahead of the Multi in every respect. Five years is a long time in automotive engineering... and it shows. Driving the Picasso makes the Multi feel like an elderly Transit van in comparison. But it does have lots of electrical trickery and a canbus system. Only time will tell if it's as reliable as the Multi. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I'll still be lurking around as we still have the Bravo - like the Multi, so far it's proved faultless. What a pity FIAT chose not to improve and update the Multipla to compete with modern equivalents.:bang:

Things going spare - a pair of Thule roofbars with locks for £50 plus courier (or pickup free) and a FREE! set of aftermarket (but made for Multipla) seat covers in grey/blue/red/yellow/black speckle - but mostly grey. These have been washed - no traces of grandchildren remain! All I want for the seatcovers is the shipping cost - or pickup free. Must point out - the seat covers are really for a Multi without side airbags, although they fit those with, but obviously block off the sides of the front seats where the airbags are situated. I'm reckless, I used them anyway.

C4 is at least a little quirky, did you go for the clutchless auto?
I had the 7 seat 2.0 HDI C4 as my last company car while my better half had our first Multi, 5 years is a bit generous, I'd say it's a generation at least!
Multipla had it's own electrical trickery, it would fool you with bad connections every other chance!

Multipla is definitely more rewarding to drive, C4 is great for passengers as regards toys and comfort but I found it completely flat and lifeless as a drivers car, however it's the only car I've ever got 60mpg out of.

Hope you find it a suitable replacement and enjoy it as much as the Multi

I drove a C4 Picasso for a few days over quite large distances. I'm a long-term fan of Citroens (I still have a CX), but of the old-style hydraulic variety.

Good car, very comfortable and well-equipped. Not particularly involving (neither was the older Picasso).

The version that I had was the petrol version (which I suspect is relatively rare here), it was horrifically thirsty.

I'd say that it used more fuel than my V6 Alfa 166. With the Alfa, you certainly get some performance and driver entertainment for the cost of the fuel!

Yep, it's a 1.6 Hdi VTR+ with the EGS auto gear change.

I had been looking for a 2 litre diesel, thinking it would be better for towing, but there aren't a lot of those about. However, the 1.6 diesel feels more powerful than the 1.9 Multi ever did and it can certainly get off it's mark a lot quicker.

Towbar gets fitted on Wednesday, so I'll be able to guage it's towing abilities soon. It gets reasonably good write-ups for towing as far as I can see. Fingers crossed!:)
