Technical multipla steering intermittent stiffness

Hi all, I have recently purchased a 2000 jtd multipla diesel. 110,000 miles on clock now. vehicle has been great for 6 months until yesterday. I was in a tight parking space yesterday and was turning steering at full lock, there was a sudden screeching noise, like a fan belt slipping, then noise stopped, I pulled out of the parking space no problem. Whilst driving back home the steering was at times ok with full motion of the steering wheel and wheels, but sometimes the steering wheel was almost impossible to move and had to almost drag the front wheels round to turn even the slightest of corners. I am no mechanic and have looked for anything obviously broken, but can see nothing, also checked steering fluid and that is ok.

Any Help, Suggestions or experience of this would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yes forgot to say hello to the forum, newbie member here and what a great site you have, also multipla rocks. (Just doesnt steer ).

just wondered if it was a commen occurence and if it was anything easily resolved without taking it to a garage.

I posted a load of stuff about the usual check under the bonnet, check fluid etc then realised you said you allready did it! :bang:

Can you jack it up and have a look quickly yourself?

For some bizarre reason, since posting on this forum, the problem has gone away and steering has been no problem at all. Maybe the fiat forum is for fiats like a trip to the dentist for us humans.
