General Multipla load bay dimensions - fitting in a motorbike.

Hello,

Newbie here as I'm mulling over getting a Multipla. The main reason will be to transport me and my motorbike to trackdays in the UK and Europe. The lightish weight and good power for the money make the Multipla stand out. I have heard of this being done with a bike before, but I'm finding details a little thin on the ground.

Now firstly, what is the size of the load bay? How long is it with the front centre seat removed?

How high is the load bay from floor to roof and does it taper down towards the front?

How high is the boot aperture from bottom to top?

Any other tips?

If you were to remove the centre front seat, your front bike tyre front edge would go up to around 2.1m from the inner trim of the tailgate, before the tyre hit the lower part of the dashboard (the ashtray, going on an average 17" tyre size).
The loading height is 98cm, and the floor at the rear is 60cm from the ground.

The rear seat attachment bars in the floor are ideal for cargo strap hooks, and there are additional threaded holes (8mm) in the floor, and two ready-fitted hook loops at the rear.

You'd get a bit more usable length if you removed the left front seat and put the Bike diagonally across front-left to rear-right.

Removing the left front seat is a hell of a lot easier than the centre seat. The centre one has a load of cabin ventilation ducting under it. The left hand seat only needs four bolts removed and the seat airbag wiring unplugged.

The good news is that the floor is virtually flat right the way through the car, so once the front seat is out, rolling a bike in and out should be easy.

I've often looked at the wheelchair converted Multiplas and thought what a perfect bike transporter they'd make. They have a deep channel cut into the floor to allow a wheelchair user to roll right up to the nearside front passenger position. But that's an aside I guess!

Obviously it depends on the bike, but i don't think you'll get it through the boot opening upright. certainly can't get my mountain bike in easily and when it is in it hits the rooflining when leaning diagonally.

Hi, I drove to Italy last month and brought back four motorbikes and a pushbike, I took the middle front seat out and used the back end of one of the bikes as an armrest, an alternative is to take out other passenger seat as well or instead. The Multipla is a very versatile car, I fitted a towbar and :slayer:a lightweight bike went onto a rack for the trip.
