Hi,
I have a 2006 Multipla 1.9 JTD whose clutch has just failed over Christmas.
I examined the clutch at the fiat garage and the mechanic said that it had failed, it was worn but showed no sign of scoring or overheating - there was no smell of burning.

Anyway - to cut a long story short, the car is just over 2 yrs old (bought Dec 2006) and in the dealer warranty for the third year. Its done 20000 miles with a full Fiat service history.
The assessor from FiatCare visited the car in the Fiat garage after a week (Christmas holidays) spoke to the mechanic and examined the parts and then went away without making a decision. 20 mins later he rang the garage and said that the wear was due to poor driving and we were not covered under the warranty (of part failure) and therefore we would have to pay the £600 or so for a new clutch.

The fact is that I have complained to Fiat HQ in Slough who have refused to send me a copy of the assessors report and will not pay for the new clutch.

The assessor apparently took photos which were sent to the Tech dept, again they have refused to send me the photos.

Any ideas anyone on what I should do next - I am absolutely furious that we have been treated like this but appear to have no way of dealing with Fiat or appealing their decision.

Please help - anyone!! We are absolutely desparate and skint after Christmas and if anyone has had this happen to them with Fiat and got more success it would be great to hear from you.

thanks

jez

I had exactly the same problem, do a search on my previous posts and you will be able to dig it up. Long and tall of it was, 2 Fiat techs visited my car and had to fit an old batch of clutch to my car as current batch was causing problems. Still in the process of taking the dealer to court.

The way I was treated by Fiat and Dealer was crap, would never ever buy from Fiat again.
