Hi.
I have a Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD, year 2009 and in it is the original pioneer car radio avh-p3100dvd. Now I would like to replace it with an Android radio. The condition is that it fits nicely in the case, has the possibility to connect a reversing camera and that it has at least a physical knob to adjust the volume of the playback. It can, of course, have other buttons for various functions. Can anyone recommend an android car radio that meets my requirements and is of good quality? The price should be no more than EUR 150.

Hello,

Android (chinese) units have in general poor quality tuners, so the FM reception is poor.

For an android, 4 GB of RAM is a minimum it will work smoothly on. The cheapest processors won't do the job neither :(

I've heard lately from an auto-electrician that the Chinese managed to cheat the version of Android. Even though the settings menu show it's the 14 or 15, it can be 9 / 10 / 11. This might limit secure use of applications, especially if you want to use some that require recent security updates (like bank apps for example). Then have in mind that the chinese units do not get any updates (or will get one if you're lucky).

As for the reversing camera, don't get fooled for the wireless one. They usually have a huge lag, you might end hitting something before you see it on the screen :( 15 m of connecting wire should be enough. Avoid one with small LEDs, they won't lighten up anything. Invest in a correct reversing light (or 2 / 4 depending of the size of the Ducato and local regulations).

Thank you very much for this information.
