I asked Nigel at Nuova 500 about warranty issues in relation to their induction kits, and he replied to me as follows -
"If you left the DIA on the car and took it into Fiat they may raise an eyebrow, but they are expecting the 500 to be modified and are being very laid back about them. We have worked very closely with Fiat over the products and even had a car at one of the dealerships launch party's with an induction kit fitted."
So he does not seem to think that there would be a problem. Would someone from Fiat UK care to comment, I wonder?
John
The brakes on the 1.3MJ are vented and more than adequate for a tuned version although we are of course working on upgrades..
@ J333EVO, Why don't we meet up on Sunday and you can drive our demo 1.3, then you can give an honest opinion having driven one. Everyone who has driven it has been blown away by it, including Auto Italia AND dealerships, it may not be your cup of tea, but don't knock it until you have tried it.
A HUGE amount of dealerships actually offer tuning of the vehicles. We did a Landrover Defender on a 4wd dyno yesterday, the vehicle has 460 miles on the clock and was dropped off to us at 08:30 by the son of the dealership owner and the sales director. The vehicle is one of their demo defenders and we have done 7 for them in February alone for their customers. We also did an Audi 2.0TDi 170 with 232 miles on the clock for the brother of an Audi sales manager, who booked it in for him. IF you are worred about having a remap on your car when you take it in almost all tuning companies will offer a return to standard for the duration and return to modified FOC as we do understand owners concerns. With another company we do fleet economy tuning - this is on new cars and vans generally, most are lease cars too. Hell we even do brand new Ambulances
As for the PM Mandator, very sorry, haven't received it at all. Why not call us, 01926 611996 or try email, [email protected]. We can’t always read every thread on forums sorry.
A lot of people confuse pickup with lag. If you drive a 1.2 or 1.4 from 1300rpm in 4th it will takes ages to pick up, the same as a 1.3MJ, that is NOT lag. Lag is when you are doing say 2500rpm and stick your foot down and nothing happens then it all does - that is lag and that is what we have reduced almost entirely. We have a 1.3MJ with DPF that we have developed continually on to refine the delivery.
There is a lot of comment from speculation rather than anyone who has tried it, if you would like a demo its available, this is why we bought the car, just call us and come and have a bit of fun, we even pay for the fuel
We appreciate tuning your car is not for everyone but don't dismiss it through what you think its going to be like without actually trying it.
I'll second that. Sounds like someone who really knows their stuff
Had a look at the website and I'll definitely come in for a talk and some info sometime. Not too much of a drive.
Still has not answered the question about the warranty though.
Nigel alot of people are wanting to know this. We know the new map is difficult to find, and if the garage doesn't see it nothing will happen.
But technically what tuning options do you have that invalidate the warranty and in what way do they invalidate the warranty.

Dealerships know that mapping goes on because they have their own cars done, customer cars done, hell we even do their demo cars! If you go into a dealership telling all and sundry that your car has been mapped and you have an issue you are making a rod for your own back. The dealer will get paid for the warranty work anyway, they have no issue with that side of things. We get fed work from a large number of dealers and the cars then get serviced at the same dealership without any question....
........
Basically if you want to be a pain in the ass to a dealership they aint going to be that helpful towards you. If you are concerned about your warranty and don't want to run the minimal risk of something voiding it, don't have it done, its not a necessity, no one is forcing you. If you know, as we do, that there is minimal risk, low chance of it being detected and are happy that you tuner will return the car back to standard IF you are worried at any point and you want to get it done, then there is little to concern you, get it done, get the car running to your satisfaction and enjoy it.
I would be interested in
seeing what else can be done for the car.
OK, I can safely answer this myself... the 1.3 on a grande punto develps 190 lbs of torque, on both the Panda and 500 the same 75 bhp engine develops 145 lbs of torque... why?
Because Fiat believe the extra torque will cause problems with the Panda/500 gearbox.
The remap makes the torque 185 lbs.... discuss
Your site quotes this....
+25bhp
+40Lb ft / 55Nm
+2-4mpg improvement
Huge improvement in turbo response
Thousands of miles of testing in our own car
40lbs of extra torque is a big increase on 106lbs.... if Fiat think its a bad idea then how do you reason its not. 4000 miles wont show up longer term gearbox problems will it?
