I'm thinking about the possibility of fitting a multifunction steering wheel to a 500 with an ordinary wheel. My question is: are the wiring looms the same with sections unused or does this have a separate loom. I'm assuming this connects to either the interior CAN or to a MOST system controling the audio. If I'm using an aftermarket android head unit can I effectively create a unique CAN (MOST) network to link the items. At the moment I'm at the limit of my current knowledge therefore any help would be appreciated.

Research today has revealed 2 possibilities the first is to use Bluetooth switches attached to the steering wheel linked to the android audio. A bit of a challenge to make the switches look like a factory fit, although it may be possible to gut them and incorporate the Bluetooth into the factory wheel.
The other option I've found is an Australian company who will sell a custom audio link between the factory wheel and an android head unit. This is an expensive option and only works with some android units. It also relies on the CAN system connecting the wheel to the car wiring.
I was hoping to come up with a cheap DIY fix using readily available used parts.
