Hi all - hope no-one minds me posting here but I have a Lancia (Chrysler!) mk.3 Delta which shares alot of the Bravo mechanics/chassis. We have the 1.4 MultiAir and I'm interested in Bravo owner experiences with the Stop/Start system. When we bought the car the system didn't activate at all for the first few weeks but no errors/issues on the dash and you could de-activate/re-activate the system manually using the dash button with no errors reported (but it still didn't activate.) We then went away for a few days on a 500 mile round trip and the system started working as planned perfectly well - stopping at lights etc. and restarting fine. After I then filled up with petrol the system has since failed to activate again though we've absolutely no errors / indication of a system issue at all. I know from the manual theres conditions when the system will not function (heavy load - AC/Lights/Fans on etc.) / Engine cold..... Just wondering when it will next work as planned/expected?

Try giving the battery a good overnight charge.
You'd need to use the right kind of charger dependant on your battery type.

Hi mate

Cars fitted with the Start/Stop system have a very clever battery monitor fitted. This will only allow the start/stop to work when the battery is at optimum charge/capacity to prevent damage caused from repeated start/stopping at lower charge levels.

If you do frequent short journeys I would expect the results you are seeing. On your 500mile trip the battery would have reached optimum levels and (provided the other operation conditions were met) the start stop would have worked.

As Ffoxy says, a way to ensure your battery is always at optimum levels is to give it a manual charge.

Have you tried www.chryslerforum.co.uk

Thanks Alan - Yes Ben the Chrysler Forum Admin contacted me to test that site before going live as one of the few mk.3 Delta owners. I'll give the charge a go though typically S/S has now started to work again! So it is a classic Fiat group car then! :)

Sorry to cut in between ... Anyone has a soln. to perm turn off this feature even when restart the car the next drive ... ?
