I have a 2000 fiat multipla, that yesterday failed to start after a long journey, the coolant was very hot, and after a period of cooling the car started again. I think the car overheated but there was no temperature warning light. After then driving the car home and leaving it to idle on the driveway then fan didn't start at all, and the radiator wasn't even getting hot but the coolant in the reservoir was hot, so surely the rad should be hot too, as this is where the coolant is cooled. I suspect that the car has a faulty thermostat(stuck closed?) which isn't allowing proper circulation of the coolant. And a faulty temp sensor which again isn't alerting the car that it is getting to hot. The heaters still work on hot, so does this rule out water pump? Any ideas would be great before I take it in and part with my hard earned.
