General Muffler Rust

Hi everyone,
Can I check if anyone else's 500X is developing rust on the rear muffler/resonator like this. The car's 18 months old

My 2010 500x diesel I got rid of last summer muffler looked like that for a long time, in fact from not much after new and I initially thought it was rust. Over time it didn't deteriorate so I reckon it was probably more oxidation or perhaps salt off the roads, or similar.

Hard to tell 100% from the pics if this is the same.

That normal for any car especially in a wet climate with salted roads like the UK has
I've known people for new exhausts and been rusty within 12 month

Thank you all, I'll keep a eye out to see fit worsens. I'll get it checked it on my next device which is due soon.
