Gents,

I've had the D'Angelo Motori "Street Racing Evo 2" exhaust installed for a little while now, but ran into a little problem on the last long drive. I started hearing some interference noises and when I got the car home, I noticed that the muffler had rotated from it's installed position and was hitting the rear bumper. One of the retention springs was missing, and the spring holding the intermediate pipe to the muffler itself was twisted (see pics).

Has anyone with a similar setup run into such a problem? I'm trying to think of a way to remedy this from happening again and can't seem to come up with anything short of welding the muffler to the pipe, or maybe welding a tab to bolt it to. Since the intermediate pipe slips into the muffler, there's nothing to affix a clamp to. Mildly annoying that I have to replace the spring too. I have not reached out to D'Angelo Motori yet, but don't expect much help there honestly.

Appreciate the input.

(disregard the oil droplets - I overfilled the sump and the excess leaked out during the drive... another thing to rectify today)

Hi Matt---yes, very annoying and I agree with you, I do not think that you will get much assistance from D'angelo. Their parts are pretty good, but their "customer back-up" does leave a bit to be desired! I have one of these D'angelo exhaust mounts on the side of the "695SS" engine that I am building up (and now runs--well) and did away with the springs. My problem was that my exhaust is a custom-made stainless system, so instead, I have used a "sort of" big jubilee clip which is designed for use in situations where things get hot, and then cool down. So far, they seem to be working as they are retaining the tension even after I have been running the engine. Strangely, D'angelo are going away from the use of springs and are using straps, which ARE available as separate parts. If you drop me a line direct, I will tell you how I might be able to get some of these straps for you.
With regard to your problem at the moment, there are 2 ways that I can think of rectifying it---(1)---line everything up correctly and then a couple of "tig-spots" at the joint to hold it in position or (2), weld a couple of small tangs onto each section of the exhaust and position them so that they overlap (and touch) each other---and then put a small screw through the tangs to hold the 2 parts in alignment.
