Hello, greetings from Indonesia..:)

Straight to the question, is it possible to use MSD-6AL ignition modul to the standard Fiat Uno 70SL (breakerless type ignition)? I've looking elsewhere but unable to find proper wiring diagram for this type of ignition. Does anybody have those diagram or ever use this thing on your Uno? Thanks for the help..:)

regards,
jaf.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. but I had already that one (the haynes manual), all I need is a proper diagram to connect the MSD 6AL wiring to original ignition wiring, because in the MSD manual itself there's no match diagram to similiar Fiat Uno 70SL ignition. But thanks anyway, I am very appreciate it. (y)

Any other have? br.:)

Welcome to the forum jaf... I don't think anyone here has done the conversion, so sorry you got no replies  Basically, your MSD ignition box is going to replace the finned box on the side of the standard distributor. From memory there are two plugs on the back of that finned box. One has red (+12V), green (to coil negative), and black (earth to distributor body) wires. The other has brown wires that go to the reluctor-type pickup inside the distributor.

Provided the MSD ignition is compatible with the reluctor pickup of the Uno, you should be able to connect its 'trigger' wires to those brown wires in the distributor - bear in mind that they are a low-voltage, so should have a shielded cable or the MSD box mounted right on the distributor and wire lengths kept short.

thanks a lot Alex, what an enlightment..:)

With some trial & error, hehe...,I've succeded to connect the MSD to my 70SL. FYI, for breakerless igntion type used on 70SL, I use the magnetic pickup cable from the MSD (the two green-violet one) and directly connected to red & blue wires from the distributor for the pulser trigger (this wires formerly connected to original electronic control unit for the ignition).

The other cables are:
1. Yellow & black small wires from the MSD replace the original wires to ignition coil
2. Red small wire to ACC / ignition
3. Red & black heavy wires direct to (+) and (-) battery
4. White small wire isn't used because I've already use the magnetic pickup cables for the pulser trigger (the white cable is trigger sensor wire)

But on 70SL it's quite impossible to mounted the MSD box near the distributor because of inadequate space. So I mounted the MSD unit below the glovebox at the interior compartement, I think it's not a problem so far.

Thanks again..Hope it helps for others who is willing to use MSD..:)
