Hey all

Just wondering how far out the trip computer is out on mpg. Mine is saying average of 64mpg. I'm doubtful about that.

I suppose I could run some tanks through and work out consumption the old fashioned way but it would be useful to compare.

Welcome to the forum :)

The onboard computer in my MiTo is optimistic, and I imagine that's the case across the FIAT family of vehicles, but not ridiculously so. See here for real world data from other Panda MJ drivers. Get registered and start inputting a few tanks and see how you compare.

To answer your other question, a remap is a great way to increase your MPG as it'll lower the rev range at which peak torque occurs, as well as giving the added benefit of higher power and overall torque. I would look at trusted companies - such as Celtic Tuning - rather than back street guys, unless you know of people with personal experience. Chips and tuning boxes are (generally, there are exceptions) hardly worth the plastic they're made from.

Hi there

Thanks for the great advice. I really appreciate it.

Manufacturers figures are we know not realistic because they build the cars to pas a predefined test regime. Fuel injection is accurately controlled by the exhaust gas sensors but speedos and fuel flow sensors are not especially accurate.

Fill the tank to the 2nd click and zero the mileage trip. Drive the car normally then refill at the same pump stopping at the 2nd click. Note the fuel added and do the sums.

Thanks DaveMcT

I guess the old fashioned way is always the best.
