Hi there,
I think you mean an increase from 3000kg?
I concur with crossing keeper. SV.Tech, very helpful and good advice.
Best way to approach the weight issue is to empty van and weigh at a weighbridge. Try to find one that is level and weigh front axle, whole van and then rear axle. Then fill up with all that you would require for your trip, go back and repeat procedure. you will then have all the information you require. Sv Tech will also let you know the MAM possible. Simple maths, then.
Other considerations are with bike racks, these create a lever effect reducing the weight on the front axle and increasing the rear axle weight, also 1litre of water =1kg, so maybe fill up fully at site on arrival?
Recently had my weight upgraded from 3100kg to 3300kg with a rear axle increase by 50kg.
Very straight forward the only painful part was paying, just under £300.00
However I now have the peace of mind that I am within the payload and within the law.
Also well worth letting your insurance aware, although, my weight was never an issue when purchasing the insurance.
