Sometimes the motor does not go down to 1000 rpm, it goes between 1500 - 3000 until I've released the clutch a bit with a gear in, then it goes down. Just want to identify the problem to see what I could/should do about it.

Best regards

I have a similar problem - sometimes it starts reving - both when ideling and with and without released clutch.

Did you solve your problem?

Best regards

i have this problem too!! I have a w reg 1.6 petrol...
If started from cold and driven for about 5 mins, the the idle rises suddenly to about 3000 or 4000 rpm, then it varies quickly for about 3 mins, (i guess until it gets really warm), then it settles down to normal.

:rolleyes:I have 3 theories:

1. Auto chock: electric prob or temp sensor, maybe coolant air lock?
2. throttle body dirty or air flow valve?
3. ECU buggering up...

can some one help please......

I took a look quick at the throttle cable on the carb that turns freely and does not stick etc
