General MOT - Yay!

Passed its mot today, it was a retest due to some suspension problems. It got a knocking noise as I start to disengage the clutch, any ideas? Also I had to top the water up the other week. It's been stood before I bought it and I've not used it yet so I just topped it up. Well it's only been down the mot place down the road and round the block a couple of times and it back on low??

is it a 2 wheel drive? i have seen a few threads where this has happened.. give it a search.

the knocking noise could be a ball joint.. they often dont show up on the mot. talon had both shot but still went through the MOT.
does it only do it when pulling off or does it do it even when you are in neutral and you let off the clutch?
if so it could be the clutch cable moving around.

I've changed both the ball joints so was hoping the noise will have gone away. Yep I think it makes a similar noise when in neutral. Will have to investigate further. As for the coolant loss, the oil is clean and so was the old stuff before a change. I'm wondering if it's the steel pipe to the water pump. I did notice a drip the other week around that area. It seems a lot to loose though for not many miles!

Well I managed to get a better look this morning. I thought at first it was the water pump or the metal house. I then noticed some crystallised gunk and the radiator smoking! We have a hole. New rad just ordered, this car is a money pit lol

if you can do the work yourself, i find the fiat panda to be a super cheap car to keep running

Knocking could be the exhaust rattling against the floor

Yes at least most of the parts are a reasonable price and most jobs are pretty straight forward.

Yes thinking the exhaust, I'm not sure my engine mounts are great so maybe excessive movement?

Yep I think that's going to be my problem, they do look pretty cracked. Are there three of them?

Yes. Three in total. 2 engine and 1 gearbox. I've seen them for about £10 each so a cheap fix

Brill, have just managed to find some on eBay. Another purchase me thinks!
