.........As my car has now failed its MOT on both front ball joints being loose, now these were replaced by k*** fit on Market Street, only 3 months ago, and i noticed the same noise coming from them a few days after these new joints were fitted, took the car back and got told by one of the mechanics it was my driveshafts, now the MOT tester says my driveshaft are fine, but the bolts for the balljoints must not have been tightened up properly, and concequently i may need new hubs also. Phoned them just now and i can "certainly" bring the car back in tomorrow for them to look at it.

should never have taken your car to quick ****. the people who work for them aren't even mechanics. they're fitters. only the mot guy will be a mechanic.

what to do, is get it in writing(if youve not already) whats wrong with the car and the reasons why. show it to quick **** and if they refuse to replace the parts or supply you with them for free, go to trading standards and get them shafted

I have the mot certificate plus the guys number, so if they dispute it i can use that, plus the handy threat of, you can speak to my dad if you like, hes a lawyer.

Ive had a similar dealing wi Kunt fit on Market ST...

I mot'd the punto days before it was mine (long story!) and knew it was gonna fail cos of a dodgy bulb - to cut a long story short, I had no idea how to fit a bulb, didn't see the point in worrying cos the previous owners thought it would fail anyway!

No surprises when it failed, work was "estimated" at 250 quid. So later that day picked it up, car seemed ok - Day later, was driving home in the dark, for my brother to tell me the bulbs were out again. Picked up a spare set and finally worked out how to fit them when I discovered the root of the problem...there were NO bulbs where they'd "replaced" them...

Doesn't really fill me with confidence that the rest of the "work" was carried out on the car. ****s!

Yea it is quite a strange place to go, the supposed manager just does not look as if he enjoys his job, and probably couldnt give a feck, where as all the youngish guys that work there are probably numpty's from some working with the community where they give jobs to unreliabe to***rs from s*** areas of abdn, wherre there most likely drugged up to the eyeballs.

Were they all wearing hats, had a gun slung round their belts and had spurs on their boots????

So who would yous trust more nifty fit or a main dealer

Niether. Main dealers are just interested in the money and k*** fit are only good for tyres and exhausts. Find a decent backstreet garage. Usually best. Especially when you find the ones that have been there for ages and the same customers keep going back. There are some reputable ones out there. It's just finding them......

Yea the guy we usually use, has a garage 6 miles out in the country, but everytime the car goes in it comes back driving awsome, can allways trust him

Yeah thats where fiat dealers are going wrong i think
should be customer based and not profit driven

Jims garage, 60 year old tech who does it more as a hobby and cheap
= happy customer who always gos back

Dealer, skilled people but no time for the customer
= mostly content customers but dont particularly wanna go back

Kwick fit, unskilled staff who tend to thinkthey are gods gift to car maintinance no time for the customers
=unhappy customers who will only go if they realy realy need to

i fully agree with that!

Fiat may actually sell more cars if they got it right from the offset, fair enough there cars are not up to the standard of other manufacturers, and they could desperatly do with all new models like rover, but people may keep going back if they got good service, not everyone is like a road tester for a mag and able to pick out bad points campared to another car, they go on customer service and helpfullness

Customer service and helpfullness...things most fiat dealers dont have any experience of!!!

I was thinking of alternatives to AC as far as FIAT dealers are concerned, there IS a place up near Peterhead that sells FIAT - Clyne Autos. Anyone had any good/bad experiences of dealing with them?

Yea thats where i got my punto from, they seem to be helpfull and willing, but i have never ordered parts from them so i dont know about that side of things, but i would say give them a try, anything has to be better than ac

would never go to kwik fit.
when i had my punto i went to autoquick on king street. these guys did a top job.
now i have to go to the main dealer while my warranty is still on and would never go there after the warranty. just serviced yesterday. was supposed to replace most parts but never just did the main parts. think i will have to look for respectable garage.

Thats where the old mans brava has just been. We were getting a bit frustrated that we werent getting the car sorted (its taken 3 days) but in fareness we're both on nightshift so communication has been fairly difficult to say the least!

Still, the cars back, its got brakes again and its not cost us too much.
