so she went in today, and to be honest i was half expecting a fail, but i thought more on the electrics, which were mucking about with the lights at the back, instead:

1) both CV gaiters are split - what a surprise! i'd forgotten that the red did that every year too....still, easy and quite cheap to fix

2) rear offside brake efficiency on both foot and hand brake very low - buggeration and damned it to hell and back, i though that was well and truly sorted last year, looks like a new cable, which i have, and maybe at worst a new caliper....which i have:p

3) secondary fuel filter has a small leak - godammit, i put a new one on last year, will have to have a close look into that....do have a spare

4) rust, at the rear just ahead of the arches - the dreaded uno killer, on BOTH ****ING SIDES:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang: no this i can't do, even with help from chas:D so means a trudge down to an old boy garage i used a while back to get her sorted, again, hopefully relatively cheap to get done.

besides that, a couple of little pointers from the tester, appears the fuel hose from the tank to the primary filter/pump is collapsing, and could do with a replacement.

it's not all doom and gloom though, he said he used to own a tub, a long time ago, and had never seen one with such bright headlights! he liked the relay set up a lot, cheer alex(y)

i'm off to sulk now:eek:

Shame Jai!!

Don't seem like a year since it passed the last MOT!

If you were a bit closer I know an Ace welder who'd take a look for a decent price.

Aren't you better off spending your time getting the red one back in action?
Think of all the spares your shed would get if you and Chas broke the white one :yuck: (n)

...you'd be allowed another car to replace it

both my cars are due mot soon and the ut aint got the cat, the rear weak brakes are prob due to the rear compensator (ive had lots of dealings with the bugger ) try adjusting it and see if the piston rod moves when you get an assistant to apply the brake (mrs jai! ) a spray grease off the hanbrake cables and check cable alignment, the rear fuel hose is another bugger i bet they used water heater hose like i did as a temp fix as sourcing new fuel resistant pipe is hard as not used on anything else except cosworth (12mm id ) new from main dealer wanted £18 for small piece, so i got some from mattlewisracing on fleabay, still not as good as oe stuff as the pipe walls are thinner and have to modify the route good luck with her Ant!

tippex is ready to rock!!!!!!!:slayer:

ARRRR! how annoying!
lowest quote i got is £3200!! one company took the **** and offered me £11,764!!!!!! LOL

I guess being old and responsible has its merits. Even so, that £119 is even less than I'd pay in NZ! That must be, what, two tanks of fuel :)

Jai - I'm so sorry, I somehow missed this thread (or thought I'd already read it)...

Thanks for the kind comment on the headlights but that rust was a shock, wasn't it. I guess it's a bit like my Uno Turbo - any time, any where. Like you, I get sick of fixing it and farm it out to other people (such as the talented welder jjhepburn ;)).

Replacing CV boots - you did it? It is, as Paul said, the messiest job of all.

Fuel pipes underneath, it's a bit odd having the pump, pressure damper, and other genitalia dangling in the breeze, I noticed mine was held up by cable ties in addition to the rubber mounts, so the previous owner must have been scared of them falling off. One day I'm going to get around to taking that lot apart, as I often wonder if my pump is getting louder and/or making intermittent mild graunching noises.

Your white Turbo looks absolutely 201% better than in that early photo... your persistent tidying has paid off... well done (y)

-Alex
