Just wondering, which model do people think is the most reliable petrol Bravo?

1.2
1.4
1.6
1.8
2.0

?

I would have thought it would either be the 1.8 or 2.0 as the 1.4 has a crap engine, 1.2 eats gearboxes and the 1.6 has flaky injectors. Don't know about the other 2 tho - doesn't appear to be a real big 'failing' point to the higher engined models?

Current Mileage: 119,000 miles
Current Status: Alright actually :)

Only the earlier 1.6 has the dodgey injector.

HGT: MAF, TPS, expensive cambelt change
1.8: the owners ;)

1.9 jtd but that wasnt the Q :)

Iÿd say 1.8 but still not sure. I know a few 1.8s which run really smooth couple years.

well im not embarrased of mine in fact i love it too bits. it gets to much tlc from me :)

my 1.6 (mk2 engine) was great until i left it stood for 6 months. Since then i've had a couple of intermittant engine problems. The first was a dodgy injector, apparantly it's just started kangaroo hopping tonight with the warning light on (i love female descriptions of problems) so looks like its off back tomorrow. (Or tonight if she can't get home and i have to go tow her, anyone sees a red pickup on the M1 towing a bravo it me :D )

i think the 1.8 has to be the best in the range for reliability but remember it was first concieved as the top of the range model!!! the hgt was just a botch up later on for more power to compete with the bravos other rivals!!!

Are the HGT's any more unreliable though? Yes, the cambelt is expensive but thats not a reliability issue. IMO

What complete and utter codsh1t!! The HGT was not a botch job to compete with rivals it was simply an exercise in putting the already proven 20v engine from the Coop in the Bravo and the Marea.

As for HGT reliability, (touching wood frantically) I think mine is one of the most reliable Bravs of any member on here. Only service parts have failed/had to be replaced on mine and it's 7 years old with 80k on the clock.

Becouse you didnt see and drive my car, lol

But then again we were talking about petrol engines so my car doesnt fit in there.

So maybe your is the most reliable car here :) :)

Bravo Thomas, i agree with you on that!
Lets just wait for Joske now! ;)

However it is rather satisfying driving past every petrol station, i had to remind myself how to put diesel in the other day, it had been so long since i last put any in :p

Love the 1.8, has been more reliable than any car i have every owned, not that i have had that many mind you.

just could have been a little faster. but hey cant go fast on our roads any way ;)

I never said mine was "the most reliable" on here I just said it was "one of the most reliable" which I would say is a fair comment.

ok put ur hand bags away :)

Meh, well I'm gonna say 1.2 aren't I.

Yeah some people have had their GB problems with it but you can't let the minority bring you down.

Still on standard clutch and gearbox.

And lets be honest, my car isn't slow and gets stick 24/7 ;)

But I do service it every 6 months ;)
