Hello, I've already posted a query and then I find the newbie page! Ah well.
I've had my licence for 10 months and already been through more than most people would on (and off!) the road.
I'm on my 3rd car. The first one doesn't really count, as I was still learning when I bought my M reg Fiat Punto 1.2 SX in metallic dark green (It was a nice green...honest!). The sole reason behind buying it was to help me learn as my instructor had a Punto too. That was a nice car until we had a blockage in the engine somewhere (probably near the injectors). I was on my way to Spurs vs United with my girl in the car and it just would not hold the revs when idle, it kept cutting out. To cut a long story short, my mechanic was absolutely clueless, told me to put some Redex in it and drive it for 200miles and it should clear...yeah right. Because he also said to keep the car moving once it cuts out, he only went and re-set my ECU! so thats car number 1 gone.
The first car I owned after passing my test in December 2004, was my brothers Fiat Seicento Sporting in yellow. Gave it to me as he'd already got a loan to cover his Golf. That lasted until May 2005, when someone stole it and wrote it off. whilst I'm here, can someone tell me why anyone would want a front numberplate reading 'G 5PAG'? (great plate eh?) haha, I found my car and yes, someone had nicked just the one plate. Think I was more annoyed at that cos it made less sense than joyriding!
Sigh, anyway, I was off the road for exactly a month before I bought my 2001 reg Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX...in silver (God I hate saying that). Well, when I say I bought, I mean my dad, I'm still fighting the insurance company for the money from the Seicento. I think my Bravo is great, although it hates having more than 2 people in it, and then coming to a hill. If only the 1.2 came in yellow, I'd be laughing.
In my year of driving, I've been involved in 2 insurance claims. 1st one, some idiot in a Escort RS decided it be funny to mess around on a 40mph road, overtook me on the wrong side, had to swerve back as there was a car coming head on, i swerved so he didnt hit my side, returned back into the normal lane, and suddenly, he slams his breaks on when theres a green light. Obviously, my breaks aren't half as good and I've touched the back of his car (when i say touched, i mean very lightly nudged him forward touched!) And now, the same insurance company that charged me £1,8k to insure my 1.1 Seicento, want to pay out for damages that weren't there. (I'm being honest here! seriously, there was no damage to his car whatsoever) Their reason? His story makes more sense!!!!! I now always have a digi cam in my car! These are the same people who are accusing me of lying on my written off claim too! Their name? Endsliegh. I'm now with the AA who actually know I'm a customer of their's (even though I can't get insured with 2 claims to my name even though neither was my fault!)
Welcome to the world of driving i guess
Don't get me wrong though, I love driving. Ever seen a Siecento burn a Lancer Evo VII at a set of lights? Haha, he stalled! Even this Bravo has left many a Saxo, Fiesta, Corsa etc standing...even though they tend to overtake me as I stick to the speed limit...which sounds sad but hey, I've been pulled over 3 times in this Bravo for general enquries (Well, they wanted to make sure it wasn't stolen to be completely honest!) dont need points holding back my insurance too!
Anyway, thanks for reading this lil essay, probably bored the hell out of most of you!
