Guys,

After having to replace the thermostat and have the gearbox reconditioned I now have another problem.

When I am having a long run (say along the motorway for an hour or two) the car starts "chugging" between 3000-4000 rpm, if I put my foot down and get above 4000 rpm the car runs fine again for a while (could be for the rest of the journey or just a few minutes).

This seems to happen in any gear but most often in 5th.

However, running home last night in what was comparatively a cold night the car ran fine for the whole journey (Leicester to Bristol, so about 140 miles).

It's a Bravo 100 HLX with about 46500 miles on the clock, it's just had a service (oil change, oil filter, new plugs etc).

This has only happening after the thermostat replacement, could it be due to an air lock?

Thanks,

Matt.

I vaguely (sp) remember someone posting on here about an air sensor or something causing theses sorts of problems

An airlock would cause it to overheat.

Sounds like either:
plugs
leads
coilpack

I think the haynes shows how to test the coilpack.

Thanks Tom, i'll take a look in the Haynes manual and see about testing the coil packs.

How much should I expect to pay for them if they do need replacing?

Thanks,

Matt.
