can anyone help????

Ive had a bravo hgt for 8 months, all of a sudden the car is flooding in the drivers footwell really badly. I checked the areas suggested and the drivers side scuttle drain hole was blocked. I unblocked this but it has made no difference, and there doesnt appear to be any drip marks and the seat is dry i guess that eliminates the sunroof.

Please if any body has any ideas it would greatly appreciated

I appear to have the exact same problem as yourself! What and where is this scuttle hole that you mention,
does this get blocked on a regular basis?

Is this in the Bravo Handbook?

any help greatly received!!!!

flooding

Rob
The drainage areas i mentioned are listed on this sites maintenance page. They are located hard up against the scuttle on the top outside edges where the bonnet meets the screen sill. Their not that visable and are difficult to reach as they are half covered by the screen sill its self. They block due to the crap off the screen running down, especially leaves.

Hope this solves your troubles. Unfortunately it made no difference to my car. These ares where full of water untill i unblocked them so i thought id sussed it. But no, my next area i suspect may be the windscreen itself or a drainage pipe misplaced from the sunroof letting water in the cabin.

My seats stay dry and theirs no water drops on the paper i put in their so i guess its running under the carpet and seaping up through. This could be either a drainage fault or the screens leaking.

If you have any more success or any more ideas of how to fix this please post on this site or against this email.

Many thanks Matt.

...and more flooding!

I had my Bravo for three days and sat in it only to hear what sounded like a sponge being rung out!! v. wet ass!!My leak is coming through the roof lining though. Luckily It's under warranty, so the Dealership are sorting it out, just hope they can find the fault.

Re: ...and more flooding!

Hi all
Rover had a very big problem with water ingress
& whilst working for a rover franchise the way we used to find the point of entry was for someone to sit inside the car & someone else with an hose pipe spray around where they thought was the offending area, if the ingress was not found at that point then it ment stripping the car interior to find the leak,if the latter aplies then you may have to seek out the help of a proficient garage.

Sunroof

the leaks my friends, are from the sunroof. theres nowt you can do about it as it is a factory fault. The sunroofs are not completely water tight and the water runs down the side of the windscreen in the side arms and consequently into the footwells. Ive tried many solutions 1) Car cover- effective but time consuming and annoying 2) A sheet of acetate over the sunroof held down with magnets in either corner- effective but can be embarassing and prone to blow off 3) Ive finally cleared out my garage and that is where my baby rests at night. -ineffective for when im not at home.

Re: Re: Sunroof

i had this problem and sorted it, if ya open the bonnet at the right n left there are like drainage wells for water to run down near the top of ya struts, the hole is about the same size of a 5 pence peice, just use summit to gouge the shite thats builded up, and the water should stop,

http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/photogal/drainagehole%201.htm

thats the kinda area you wanna make sure is clear not just where the windscreen drains go under

Re: Re: Re: Sunroof

If the sunroof is leaking it can be running down the roof lining, down the A post into the footwell

Flooding

I had water coming in. It was from the sunroof. It is normal for a sunroof to leak. If you look carefully, you will find there is a drainage gully all around it on the inside and two plastic pipes take the water down the door pillars into the scuttle. If the scuttle is blocked and mine was with painted mastic overfill from between the panels from the original fiat build and of course mud and leaves, then the drains from the sunroof become submerged and the gully in the sunroof overflows. All you need to do is clean it all out and make sure the drain holes are there and not filled in by an over jelous fiat production geezer and your problem will be solved. The prvious owner of my car had spend hundreds at his fiat dealer trying to sort it out.

Re: Flooding

Bloody Hell.

I didn't realise the sunroof's were that bad.

Also, Bravo/Brava/Punto's tend to take in water from the exterior aerial casing. Check that too. It's dead easy to disconnect and seal with mastic or whatever sticky/waterproof medioum you choose.

Re: Re: Flooding

I'm sure that when I close my sunroof from the tilting (up position) it sits higher than when it's closed from slid-open position. (..so coming from below) (If that makes any sense!!)

Whenever i close my sunroof now, I take it down past the stop position first, then park it from below, cos it looks like a tighter fit. Probably makes no difference, but the leaks I used to have occasionally (even after Fiat changed the seal) don't seem to happen any more.

Just a thought

Have you tried the air con unit perhaps it could be the condenser
