Dear colleagues,

Did anyone experience their 500's fixed moonroof's mesh to become saggy and not retracting to the very end, after releasing the latch?

Mine barely moves 20% of the track and falls to my head...

Is there any chance to repair the spring mechanism or what's behind the liner? Maybe a repair kit with needed parts?

Thanks in advance!

Had the same problem and found out that it does this when it is cold but when the weather gets warmer it will go all the way back, well when the weather got warmer the screen did indeed go all the way home and couldn't believe it!
I guess you are somewhere coldish and if the weather gets warmer then try it then!

My issue happens irrespective of temperature. These last summer days, we've had around 37 degrees Celsius and still the mesh won't retract more than few inches. Same for the -20 winter days.

Yes, it's been a known issue almost since launch.

The glass roof blind is fragile and you need to be careful when using it, or problems like this happen.

New replacements from Fiat are expensive, but the car has been around long enough for the breakers to have supplies of used ones; this, for example.

I don't know what makes me more mad, all these disappointing design flaws that are stacking up OR the fact that despite knowing all these, I'd still pick a 500 if I were to buy a city car again.

I bought the car with the blind broken, thinking it's an easy fix. After hearing it's a known issue, I'm considering buying another cheap broken one, see what it's all about and whether the fragile parts can be replaced with custom ones. I'm afraid buying a new one will end up behaving the same.

Thank you for the info and link, jrkitching!

I bought a complete roof from a breaker (for the glass) and it came with a the mesh blind, seems much better that the one on my car.

Maybe worth getting one from a newish car?

Yes, I too think that generally getting a used one from a newer car should work better. But then it also depends on how it was used by the previous owner. I'm still looking for such piece nearby.

For anyone's reference, I'm attaching a document showing steps to replace the blind.
