what are the best mods to do to a hgt to increase the power/acceleration? cash is a bit tight so only relatively cheap suggestions please...i cant afford a 20vt conversion!

Cams £800-900 fitted
Engine chip!! £400
get all that and it will go like the clappers!
the chip will make the biggest difference for the least cash look at something like a dastek

Ok, that's a new one on me Ash. Where do you know of that does manifolds - presumably aftermarket ones in stainless AND for £350?????

you know me... but i thought they were 600, i wont pay that for them...let me know when you have a price i am quite likely to get this short term anyways...have you sorted you manifold out yet?

There are plenty of places that will make you a custom manifold!!(it doesnt have to be supersprint!lol)

A custom one (I might ask my local when they do my front pipe n cat this week since they have new bending kit) would be double 350 I reckon.
@Paul, I'm contacting three sources for cams tomorrow, so will be in touch (I know you can't afford it really, and neither can I for that matter) but lifes too short not to

well i really REALLY want cams so i am likely to brake the bank for these...as it looks like the earliest i can get a 20vt put in (from an insurance point of view) is 22! and i am 19 at the mo, i can not see that one happening!

i have heard of a coupe non turbo 20v (same as us) running 205bhp with cams,piggy back , airfilter and full stainless...but had standard manifold...
we are looking at a group buy of cams at the moment if you are interested, just look at the other thread... on 2 definate atm but the more of us the cheaper its likely to get....

what kind of price are u looking at for the cams? and what does 'piggy back' mean? (in engine terms and nothing else please!) by doing this stuff to the engine would it cause any reliability problems?

A piggyback ECU, allows you to tweak the engine settings to suit the new cams/exhaust/filter/etc correctly.

provding the ecu is set up by a good technician it shouldnt affect reliablity... price on the cams is unknown at the moment...nico is ringng around today...
piggy back is as tom says...i will add that its like adding a mini ecu onto you origonal one hence "piggy back"
