T Tom Guest Mar 4, 2005 #4 If your oil gets too hot it stops working properly. But if it was going to get that hot the makers would have fitted an oil cooler in the first place. On the flip side if its too cold it gets fouled up and is even worse than too hot. So having an oil cooler when its not required is a bad thing. Those prices are stupidly high.

T Tom Guest Mar 4, 2005 #7 Yup. 113eur for a 16 row oil cooler is alot. You can get the same here for £50-60. The euro rate is not that good at the mo. Fiat sandwich plate £10-15. The ONLY thing they are cheap for is the stat, they are about £40. An install kit might set you back £70-80 + the cooler so 110-120. That beats the 373eur they quote for a cooler kit for a generic 1.6 engine.
