:confused:I want to remove either the power socket or cigarette lighter socket to piggyback the 12v feed.Does anyone know how to do it properly without forcing them out. When you prise them out they only come out halfway and no further

I can't offer a full answer but from having bought a cigarette lighter socket to fit into the vacant hole I can tell you how it went in.

The cigarette lighter socket had to be dismatled before insertion so that the bulbous projection on the side of the outer sleeve would fit through the hole. Once inserted the inner metal conducting sleeve was then inserted which effectively makes the unit captive. I would therefore suggest that the inner metal sleeve has to be retracted first in order to release the plastic surround from its hole. If you look inside the cigarette lighter socket you will see the two amber plastic intrusions into the metal sleeve that hold everything firmly in place. Somehow or other the inner metal sleeve has to be withdrawn against the resistance of the outer plastic intrusions. It does look as though a special little tool might be needed to do this but someone else may know better.

The easy way to get to the wiring to piggy back is to remove the small panel containing the socket, lighter and the switches for the HRW, locking etc
Remove the rubber base from the cup holder/ash tray, remover the screw underneath the rubber then prise the whole panel out, then you'll have access to the wiring to the sockets.
