Hi,
I have problem with my mk2,
driving offroad i have hit a big stone with my oil bowl.
After a minute i realize that my oil pressure lamp is on,
result: broken dumny was lying in my oil bowl, there were also some iron chips around, and engine was quite dry.

Take a look at attached pics.

Anyone can tell me? If the engine is broken and i should get a new one, or maybe try to repair this one (new oil bowl, new oil, new dumny) ?
Please advice.
Cheers

about 500 meters... maybe 2 minutes, there were white smoke from exaust, and engline sounded like tractor.
i suppose iron chips is aluminium so these are from pistons?

Could be from pistons or it could be you big end or main bearing shells that have disintegrated, i dont know the cost of replacing an engine in poland, but it might be wiser to replace the whole engine, because you will be looking at a full engine rebuild by the sounds of things.

i payed 10000zl for car mk2 1.2 8v LPG 2000year. (2900 euro),
repairs in 2 month cost me 3500zl (1000 euro),
new engine 1.2 8v is about 1300zl (380 euro)...
i got no more money for mechanics and repair in garrage so i have to try to do it on my own,
if engine is still fine (or looks fine) the best way is to find someone who will bought the car;/
if engine is broken in 100%, i will swap engines.. and try to use this car till my ensurence finnish -> and sell this crap;/

By the sounds of things the engine has had it, as i said before i think it would be best just doing a straight swap for the engine and getting it running again trying to sell it as being fine you will find more problems for yourself.
