Hi
Posting on behalf my brother, he has a 2003 Punto active sport. It has a pair of 10" subs and an amp in the boot and a decent head unit. However, it lacks any decent mid-range. It has the standard speakers in the front and rear. From the sounds of it, both front and rear are blown now.

What do you reccomend putting in it, considering its current weakness is mid-range.

(if anyone says 6x9's, i'l stab you in the face)

ok, after chatting with gaz ive come up with something like this:

http://www.bassjunkies.com/index.php?cpage=product/browse_detail.php&area=shop&category_id=17&sub_category_id=62&manufacturer_id=425&product_id=28425&show_my_car=&return_link=%2Findex.php%3Fcpage%3Dproduct%2Fbrowse_brand.php%26area%3Dshop%26category_id%3D17%26manufacturer_id%3D425%26sub_category_id%3D62%26aperture_id%3D963994639610554%26mode%3D

does anyone know exactly what will fit in the doors of these?

An idea is to get out the current ones and measure those and have a think about how much yure inclined to cram in!!!

it says the speaker sizes in the car manual....im pretty sure theyre 16cm for the front - ive forgotten it was a while ago wen i did mine. For the back theyre 10cm but its not worth getting new ones coz theyre too small and u wont notice the difference. wats wrong with 6x9's neway??

6x9's are fine all round speakers, i have them in my cinq at the mo. But when you have something like a pair of subs doing the bass, you don't need a 6x9 trying to do bass as well. You need more mid. Like i said, the 6x9 is an all round speaker, it does treb, middle and bass well enough but it does none of them very well.

The rears are 10cm. However, theres more space for an odd shaped speaker - 6x4's maybe?

Il pull the car apart when my bro gets home, see what fits. Any hidden screws in the door dave? Whats in yours btw?

to get the fronts out just prize off the grill and unscrew the speaker.....ive got sony 16cm in the front and sony 6x9's in the back. The sony 6x9s dont really give much bass even with 50 watts each but ive always thought they were good for midrange (ive got a jbl sub in boot) my fronts are crap really- need new ones.

Ive heard pioneer speakers in mates punto(red one) and they sound really good - thats 2 fronts and 6x9s in the back with a 4x45 watt headunit.

how much u gettin those infinity for?? they look nice ;)

how do u wire 2 amps up to one headunit?? (bet i sound a rite thick c*nt)

Ive got 6 plug holes where the phono wires go into the headunit so i presume they can plug in there (it says rear/front/centre i think) But what about the remote lead?

no-one sounds like a c**t lol,

its easy, if your head unit has more than 1 preout, it will be easier.

run another rca/phono lead to the other amp. make the remote into a Y shape to split to the two, buy a 2 way power cable distribution block, and run the power from the amp to these, and just ground it too the same grounding point as your other amp.

someone is gonna reply saying that this isnt the proper way to do it, but its never caused me any trouble
