my car was buring oil and missfiring so i took the head off, replaced all the valves, valve stem oil seals head gasket. afterwards it was still burning oil? i presume the piston rings must be gone, instead of fixing them i am just going to buy a new engine. My engine has the sensor on top of the cam belt cover. can i use an engine that does not have this or are they totally different blocks?

Hi, Yes you can use any of the 1.2 8v engine range, it will fit, mechanically, same box etc, Punto and Panda, in fact any from the 1.2 8v FIRE range,
You may find some engine have the sensor in a different place, so that could be just a case for a little clever rewiring from the old plug to the new, some engines do not have the senor, which is fine, and very often there will be no warning lights on the dash, if that is the case then leave it, or you can buy the sensor as a replacement and fit it or even if need be a after market universal one, but I would just concentrate or the exchanging over of the engine and get it running first,
Give me a shout if you need any advice,
