After Stripping out my black mk1 and discovering it needed more welding than I thought and also needing more paint work I had enough and after coming across this white mk1 I decided to reshell, last pictures of my black mk1 which I had owned for the last 11 years

Picked up my new uno with only 10k on the clock, seen it come up forsale and after seeing it I had to have it,

drove it back 200 miles to home without any issues, the plan is to reshell my black mk1 into this,

the night I drove it back

little 1.0 with 45bhp

tried on the superleggeras but still unsure might have them powder coated matt black

I have picked up a set of 14" cromodora wheels, seller thought they were original uno turbo wheels didnt find out til I got there but I ended up buying them anyway,

have a full set of polybushes to go on, decals have arrived from italy have more parts on order, new suspension arms and ball joints etc

I dont want this car to be a show queen as I will be using it, have a trip to the ring planned in october which I want to go to

got the car back from the body shop Saturday before retro show, had the turbo front bumper restored and the tailgate painted, the turbo front bumper was colour coded, it was smooth and had a big crack in it, thought i would put this up because i had a couple of colour coded front bumpers up for sale and had a few people who were after one not buy them because they wanted the original black textured, however they can be restored, the bumper is as good as new as per the original with the texture put back in,

I've started stripping down the black uno turbo shell, set some parts off to be powder coated, started cleaning up the underside its very clean no rust at all, am still surprised at the condition of the shell its utterly mint underneath

door/window piller trims ordered, I have had a second set of wheels refurbished in metalic silver as track wheels as I have a set of 4 federal 595 rs-r tyres for them.

plan is to clean up the engine and drop it in, I have all the bits needed for it then will take it to get mapped hoping for 230bhp+,

spec of it is

gt2554r turbo
standard 1.3 bottom end
piper 270 cam, vernier pulley
330cc coupe 20vt injectors
bosch 044 fuel pump
pace intercooler
dr evil elbow and 2.5" downpipe and full 2.5" stainless exhaust
cann durrant enlarged throttle butterfly
punto gt1 managment with custom eprom chip by fcp

will update more soon!

I had some bits power coated which came out looking nice, new lower suspension arms, I have the full polybush kit to go with them

at some point someone has waxoyled the underneath so I have spent some time cleaning a lot of it off still loads to go though, there is no rust anywhere which I am very
happy with,

before

after

I have decided to go with silver oz superleggera wheels this time will need to roll the arches so they dont scrub the tyres

I decided to use the original 1.0 rear beam due to it being in such good condition, I wanted to upgrade the rear brakes so got some custom rear caliper mounts and fitted punto gt3 rear calipers and discs, the calipers are alloy and are much lighter than the uno calipers, the handbrake mechanism is also better so hopefully the handbrake will work

larger gt3 disc 227mm vs 240mm

custom caliper bracket

new rear hubs

calipers will be sent off to be reconditioned

got the new lower suspension arms fitted, had to take the subframe off twice I ended up fitting the anti roll bar upside down first time lol

ordered some new allen bolts for the rear calipers and washers as the offset of the disc isnt the same as the uno but got it spot on in the end, had the calipers re conditioned and they look mint with the goodridge braided lines

wire brushed, sanded then sprayed a few bits,

cleaned up the arches ready to be sprayed with some anti stone chip paint as we all know how thin the underseal is on the uno

took the mileage out of the 1.0 clocks and fitted into the turbo dials

nice project!

I had 2 mk1 turbos boosted upto the hills in the mid 1990's and also a mk2 turbo. Never really like the mk2 if i'm honest.

Now well into my 40's and hitting a mid life crisis (lol) I will be on the look out to purchase another for old times sake in the not to distant future!
