General mk1 Filling up...

Basically when im filling the punto up with petrol i have to take it REALLY slowly otherwise it just overflows and sends petrol gushing out, just wondering if anyone else has this problem, its a mind boggler, ive tried different angles for the punp etc,nothing works!

There's a little valve on a small bore convoluted pipe on the other side of the filler. Either that is fubar or the pipe is kinked so badly it can't pass air properly.

Well, that's my best guess.

try another petrol station.

mine does this at tesco esso petrol stations, very annoying! the nozzle is too big to fit in past the flap.

it will take a few mins just to put 5L in, i usually give up then lol

It does it at tesco,esso and shell.......so far!

It'll be the little valve and hose.

My Cinq tub does exactly the same (following a new tank fitted by FIAT!).

The hose is the same side as the main filler hose. Get thee to a scrappy!

Mine does this as well. i find that holding the pump further out of the opening rather than pushing it right in works for me. either that or morrisons petrol stations like my car! Hope this helps
