Hi everyone!

Just bought a Stilo 2002 1.6 active. The standard radio/cd player has got me puzzled, so can anyone help?
- There is no sound at all when source is FM.
- It plays well with CD, all speakers plays nicely.:)
- It plays on all speakers with LW, MW and AM.:)
- Signal test says 2.4v signal strength.:)
- When "autotuning" it stops and stores the frequencies I know to actually be correct - indicating it gets the signal correctly.
- The radio is not in mute mode, tried muting and unmuting.
- I cannot seem to get even "static" while manual tuning on FM.

Suggestions anyone?
I still wonder as to whether it might be a setting somewhere that "squelches out" the signal - can it be set to "mono" anywhere, or different squelch?

Any help greatly appreciated! :D

Really - no one has any ideas?

The radio has played FM twice for short periods now... seems completely random when it works and not..?
Am I looking at a new unit?

worth a try disconnecting battery or if you have easy access to stereo disconnect all inputs and see if it resets leave for 30 min and see if it helps..not sure if stereo has small battery for storing settings and you may need stereo security code, which if you do not have code there is a thread here somewhere where if you donate to the forum the code can be obtained

Hi guys,
I have a strikingly similar issue like the above explained.

We own a Stilo 2002 1.6 active. It has a factory standard radio/cassette player and it is puzzling me since yesterday, damn!
The radio just stopped emitting any sound what so ever as of yesterday. I was driving in Budapest listening to an FM station as usual. I stopped to fill up the tank. Just as usual the radio turns off with stopping the car, I had it set up like that. But the strange thing that happened was when I sat back into the car and wanted to leave the filling station.

- Radio turns on just as usual but NO sound from FM or cassette. It turns on just fine, tunes, finds stations like before, everything looks the same just no sound from any speaker.

I ran the standard test, press buttons "3" and "6" at the same time and follow the instructions. ALL TESTS CAME BACK OK, Cheksum OK and Fine! Speaker test, short test, tuner signal strength, CAN communication check, LCD display check ALL FINE and OK.

Symptoms:
Radio turns on and off like before but
- There is no sound at all using any source
- When "autotuning" it stops and stores the frequencies I know to actually be correct - indicating it gets the signal correctly.
- The radio is not in mute mode, tried muting and un-muting.

I checked any potential (as far as I know of) fuse, all are OK.

The only thing I can still think of is to pull out the factory set, see if connections are ok, jiggle them around a bit, wait a few minutes and put the bloody thing back. If the cables are fine and the taking apart of it does not fix it, I'm out of ideas.

I read lots of similar issues on a Serbian forum, when the tuner module broke and they had to change the TEA6842h chip and it's fiddly work but could be done and can be done.
Thou I don't think that's the case with me since most post's say about loosing sound only on FM mode and CD or cassette is working while I lost sound completely, from all sources I could try, well...those two I have :)

I hope it's just down to resetting the devise or jiggling around some cables...please let it be just that :p

Will keep you posted of my findings!
Cheers!

Hello guys and gals,

I FIXED IT :D

At least my problem is gone now, the radio is working just fine.
What I did was, just took out the head unit, disconnected it, checked for any obvious signs of a damaged cable or burning smell (maybe the amplifier got fried thou seemed very unlikely), put the damn thing back together and presto it's WORKING OK.

The radio probably had a software fault and it hung not turning on the amplifier.
I recall that one time earlier I had a very strange behavioral problem of the radio head unit, at key on I wanted to listen to the sound of the cold engine so when starting the engine I immediately pressed the OFF button on the radio but then the radios screen went bonkers on me, it stayed on but nothing was on the display besides the back-light on, the radio worked fine, I could change the volume, channels and all but I could not turn off the device. It stayed on like that for 3-4 minutes when it all of a sudden turned off by itself. When I again started it, it was all fine. Strange  ... never before it did that, nor ever since... up until now when Key On it refused to turn it's amplifier stage on. A reset did it's job.
FYI: These two occurrences in time were separated by several months, one happened during autumn, the other one now in spring time, so no obvious connection between the two (at least I hope so these are not signs of the head unit showing it's demise).

Recommendation to all having similar issues with the radio head unit. Try disconnecting the thing, waiting a minute or so, and putting it back together. It can be just a simple software fault like with mine.

Cheers mates! :slayer:

Hello, I have trying to understand the issue with my radio on my fiat Stilo dynamic 2002.

The radio turns on well by I do not have a single sound, not even white noise.
I tried a CD too, however am not sure if the CD is only audio...

But all in all, no sound at all, what could I do?
Also I dont have the pins to open -up the radio radio box
