would anyone have any idea what this missing tube is for and any reason it could be missing? The pictures show where the pipe comes from which is just behind the throttle body and goes through the circled clip and then there is a nipple on the air box that it is where the pipe goes to. Many thanks.

Come on... This is a part of the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system.
Two "breather" hoses (big and small one - it goes under the EVAP solenoid valve). Blue line, EVAP. Black hose, small "breather".

Intake manifold is upside-down here. It's all under the throttle body.

People destroy the nipples, because they do That, picture below (jerk the air filter box with the hose still attached).
You can repair this (for example, using threaded metal nipple).

Thank you very much for your help. Would this cause my throttle body to get dirty more regularly because I keep having to clean my throttle body to stop it from idling rough.
