Hi, apologies in advance. I'm not great with cars etc but hoped somebody may be able to point me in the right direction.

I have just bought a 2003 Fiat Ulysse. The Multi function display is not there (just a rectangular hole and one lead poking through). Fiat have confirmed that this vehicle did have the sat nav optional extra. They have also quoted me over £650 for a new display, is this right??

I have looked online and searched through some breakers yards to try and source the part. If i was able to fond the display, would it need to be coded to the car at all??

Also as these are very similar to the Peugeot 806 and Citreon C8, does anybody know if they had the same displays and could be used in my Ulysse?

Also the radio cuts out every 45-60 seconds and beeps. I have been told this may mean a fault code is meant to be being shown. Is there a way that i could get this checked or at least stop it from cutting out and the radio just works!!!

Any help is greatly appreciated,

The displays from a peugeot 807 or a citroen C8 will be okay but stick to models pre 2005. There are plenty on eBay being broken. If it is the Prestigio model then the large screens are a little rarer in even the executive and exclusive variants other makes

The radio cutting out is probably because of the missing screen. At top left of the RT3 unit you'll see a red light coming on intermittently - the unit is re-booting. Everything Frantic Fran said is correct - you will need to tell the new screen the VIN of your car, otherwise it will malfunction, also displaying the symbol for which of the "manufacturers" the screen came from. After that you should update the firmware so that the RT3 and screen are both on the same page, so to speak. I have the 5.95 firmware - that's the latest you can use. Can post copy, it's only a CD/ROM...

Thank you both for your help. Am I right in saying the Rt3 is the radio unit and sat nav etc? I think I have sourced a screen from a breakers yard but not sure if is the one that can be used with the sat nav!!! If It isn't could I buy the radio unit as well and replace the whole system. I understand it would need programming. I'm not fussed about losing the sat nav at all, I just wondered if a unit without that part would still work in the car?

Thanks again for any help you can give....

The RT3 is everything - radio, either CD player or satnav - though not at the same time, phone, trip computer, the lot. They cost a fortune new and large sums second hand.

The screen you need has NO buttons on the edges - just a small infra red port at top right. The breaker needs to know that the car it was taken from had (slightly to the left and below the gear lever) the rotary control rather than a coin holder. The other screens will not work with the RT3.

Believe me, getting the RT3 and screen paired and working is totally worth it - all the cars warning systems depend on it. Something you could try temporarily is on start up when you hear a bleep, repeatedly press the "esc" button at right and above the rotary dial. That kills warning messages.

Hummm, just wondering if the P.O. has deliberately removed the screen to hide some serious faults being visually displayed! Assuming you need the large LCD screen and you have a prestigio model then the screen is invaluable!

Hi there, new on here and as this is close to my problem I haven't (yet) bothered searching this forum specifically or in detail.

My problem is sort of the opposite to the OP - I'm looking at an 03 Ulysse Prestigio which has a screen fitted but has an aftermarket cd/stereo. What I'd like to find out is:
1. would this have had an "RT3" originally, or something else
2. will it be a simple process to refit an RT3, presuming I can find one I can afford
3. how would I know if the car has any 'issues', will the screen work at all?

Many thanks in advance for your help/wisdom

It would have had an RT3 for sure the connect+ version. Source from any eurovan2 pre 2006 and it should be fine.

OK thanks, I think if I can get the right price for the car this may work out.

What sort of thing would the screen display if it worked? I mean in terms of potential problems with the car that I would otherwise find it difficult to locate... I don't have access to a scanner (yet) so will probably be reliant on the server, service history and warning lights etc.

Replacement RT3's are becoming scarce and are expensive, also there are two versions! I bought a 2003 with an after market radio and it cost me a couple of hundred to get a second hand one and all the bits and pieces + the "new" unit will have to be coded to the chassis no. I have posted several times about this site but as I don't speak German I can't comment, http://www.pavlek.de/ If someone contacts them perhaps they could post the results here, I have a feeling they may even repair the screens.(y)

Hi everyone,

An update and request for help with my ulysse's lack of display.

A few weeks ago I bought a ulysse that didn't have a display. The chap I bought it from said it was just the sat nav! I realise now that it does a fair bit more.

For the first few days the radio played but kept stopping for a while whilst the SOS button flashed. After a few days the SOS stopped flashing and the radio played without interruption.

A week later, the alarm goes off and battery is dead. To cut this part of the story short it turns out that the radio was draining the battery. We have now taken this out and now have a hole where it used to be ( at least it matches the hole where the display should be!)

Now for the advice part. Should I just put in a different radio and forget about the rt3? I have been searching for a display but can only find the non sat nav one. Is it possible to connect the bigger colour screen to it instead.

Does anybody have a picture of the display I need? I have looked at the c8 and peugeot options but still can't confirm what I need and if it will fit!!!!

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

The radio shouldn't drain the battery as the car has a economy power mode which powers down most things. The SOS flashing could be down to the fact that the car is trying to report a breakdown???

Really you need to plug it into a laptop and read the faults found. I've bought a citroen C8 Exclusive to break which should be arriving next week, mainly because I want to strip down the sunroofs to get to the bottom of the leaks. Don't know which RT3 setup it's got (large or small screen) but it will probably be available for a reasonable price.

Can't quite make out the model number on your photo, what is the number on top? I'm sure it should be RT3-N3-02
