The mileometer/trip mileage toggle won't switch between the two, or will intermittently. I got it back to mileage, but it has now bounced back to the trip miles.

I reckon it must be a loose wire or something. However, I've taken out all of the visible screws, but the plastic cover for the binnacle won't come out. There seems to be something holding it just to the right of the top of the steering gear adjuster box.

Any ideas on how to solve this last step?

well - cured it! and not by taking the whole thing to bits.

Put a new battery on this week - starts on the button, and there it is - the mileage displayed in glorious technicolour!!

hope this might just help someone else. Going in for a cambelt tomorrow. 2002, 47k

Hi,
I just bought a belt kit (SKF with both bearings and belt) and a water pump, fitting this weekend I hope, cost so far €147, I hope about 3 hrs to fit. I have only 58K miles but don't trust the service history, have you seen the thread on the Eurovan2 site about the water draining onto the belt and resulting failure, I am getting the "drip tray" sent to me from Germany as it is only €20 + VAT there, €46.60 + VAT here, welcome to rip off Ireland. I will be interested to know what the belt job costs, make sure the pump is done at the same time,
Tony

I would like to see a picture of this as well. I just had my cambelt changed including water pump yesterday. The old belt was in good condition though my car is a very low mileage for a 5+ year old car, though I don't know whether the mileage would make this problem any less of a problem. I still may get this part fitted if I can find out how to get it and how fit it.

Thanks

Lou

Hi All,
I will put up a photo of the tray when I get it, Try searching eurovan2 site for part no 8248.71 and it may come up, I am not very good on these sites so don't know how to show a link to another site etc. It is just a plastic tray with a spout directing any water to rear of engine and away from timimg belt housing, The print out is titled " Engine fails to start following jumping out of teeth of the timing belt".
