Technical Mileage / Readout Not Working

Dashboards still working and the light where the mileage shoud be is still on,

what would cause something like this on a 07 Grande Punto?

there's a few posts like that, so the LCD screen itself does seem to be a failure point. LCD screen isn't available as a separate part, so need to take one from a scrap instrument cluster, or just swap the whole cluster over (make sure to get the same one as yours to avoid coding incompatibilities)
