Technical MES Punto Evo thread

As per title, all pinto Evo MES info please.....

I would like to acquire MES system so I can "see" system info on the lads Punto, a check thinks out like live engine stuff, live abs stuff, and stuff like lock a door, open a window etc., etc. , etc., etc.,

I need to know what hardware, laptop system, software, connections etc. To get to make a working affordable system I can use.

I would be fully prepared to help others in my area.


All help greatly appreciated.

Tommorrow I will be using a proper computer in library so able to cut, copy, paste and print etc.

And connected it to my phone via bluetooth. Then i used the CarScanner App for Android.

The CarSanner App found all of the error codes that MES did on my EVO. However on my 500X it couldn't find my glow plug error.

I'm going to try the adapter with some different Apps and it may find the 500X glow plug error then.

Overall i'm impressed, so i'm keeping the product.

I think i had to try 3 different interfaces none of which worked, before i found these ones. So this is the best solution overall. Using a laptop is quite cumbersome though, particularly when the battery on that laptop doesn't work

This product came with a list of apps that work with the adapter, so i tried them all on my 500X tonight. Most didn't work well, or wanted payment, however i did find one, just one, out of about 20 that could find the glow plug error on my 500X. It won't let me clear that code without buying the app though.

One of the good things about the adapter is that it'll search all of the modules for you automatically, with MES you have to plug in the right cables, and its a bit of a faff.

Its £30 for an adapter, and £50 for MES.

CarScanner is good, its a lot easier to use a phone app than a laptop while on the move for example.

MES is available on an Apple phone but not Android. If they ever get around to making an Android app it'd deffo be worth having.

Try to download some apps, you can start them in demo mode and try them out without connecting them to the car.
