Technical Menu options vanished!

Let me start from the beginning:

About a week ago my battery unexplainably died. Jumped the car and had the Engine fault come up on every start-up. After a few days the message stopped coming up so I've stopped worrying about it.

I realised just today that my clock is about 5 minutes out so I went to change it and the only option I have in the menu is the speed limit alarm thing.

Where have all my menu options gone?!?

Please help!...

if your driving or the car is moving this is all you get. you need to be stopped to access other menu items

So, in the electrics position with the engine not running or stationary? I've tried it stationary...

i can access mine with engine running but not moving at all. Might have even had handbrake on

Just done it without the engine running. Don't I feel the fool!

Outside of a PC (or my old MKII Golf!) I'm lost!

i can do mine with the engine running and below 10mph, above that they dissapear
