why would you want to remove it? surely its good to Link up afr gauge up to your wb to know if somethings gone wrong?

been told by a mate who has run turbos for a long time this is a good idea

oh and thanks arc (y)

Megasquirt - running on a 16v basic settings use with caution
Might be useful pictures.

Plus some comments

First up is
the spark table from the original that Asteris put up.

Then the constants tab, remember that this is a sporting with the injectors wired to a single output.

Followed by
powercycle to show the decoder wheel.

Then Trigger angle

I found 108 worked although Asteris found he had 120
I got 102 and 114, I compromised at 108. I tried moving it forward and back but it ran roughly either side of 108

Finally the ve table, I used a table that was created using some megasquirt software I pulled it back 4 steps and had around 13 15 afr from around 1500 rpm up. I need to adjust the tickover.

My megasquirt is

twin coil
idle unpgrade
tacho out
code 29v

megasquirt one v 2.2 with megasquirt extra v3 board (I think)

Below is the wiring from megasquirt to Punto, this is an update with the coils the correct way round.

Thanks DtT
I've sent the megasquirt file to a few people so posting a request here should get you a copy. As soon as someone improves on it (won't take long!) let us know(y)

Had some pms and emails requesting where to get megasquirt from

Mine came from

It cost £240
You'll need a stim at £37
plus some wiring ...
It is available elsewhere.
It isn't plug n play!

Set your injections per cycle at 2 simultaneous and later (after wiring two banks of injectors seperately) at 4 alternative, engine runs smoother.

This option just squirts two small pulses every 720 degrees, instead of a big one. What is the injector pw at idle? If more than 3ms, changing at 2 sim, would still run fine. If you have less than 2ms pw at idle, means you have set wrong req_fuel or your injectors are too big for this engine...

Hmmm you're right about the 2 squirts. Where the hell has the pulse width setting gone? Can't find and I know I've seen it!

This bit! Looks OK?

I haven't actually tried 2 squirts sim since I got it running, I'll try it late tomorrow. Dwell settings OK? You have the file there?

(y)

I got the file. You'd better start with 3.0ms Dwell and see if the coils get hot after a while, then raise it a little.

That should give them time to recover for two squirts at idle ? Therefore smoother running...sounds good. I've decided to go wideband. If I have a second connector added to the exhaust could I use my existing nb to run my existing guage? Then connect the wb up to the ecu:confused:

Most WB controllers have two programmable voltage outputs. One goes to MS and second is set to emulate NB sensor, so you can feed the gauge with that, or even feed the stock ECU...

Cheers shall order one tomorrow.

Reduced dwell to 3.0ms but coils got very warm so will change that to 3.2 and try again.

Used2 x sim much much better idle (y)

Reduced kpa to 40 after which accell enrichmnet starts, this improved the massive flat spot on idle to full throttle, but it is still a major problem. Any suggestions :)
It goes really rich - originally it was rich enough to stall the engine.

Reduce req_fuel, until idle gets 13.5 AFR, then start tuning. At the end tune idle so it gets 14.7.

You really need a WB so you get all the fuel table right, then you can proceed at enrichments.

Regarding Idle Stepper Motors, I asked Philip (extraefi) about MS2:

Hi there,
The MS2-Extra code is still VERY experimental and I wont be selling them
for a while until we have a stable release of it, Im currently testing
several alpha codes with James.
So the only option right now is to control another idle valve and use
MS1-extra Im afraid.

So for those with MS1, what do you use to control the idle?

Cheers,

Kristian

Or set the tickover to 1000rpm with the tb cracked a bit and leave it like that. Mine was very happy for 30 mins the other day as I just left it to get hot! Neighbours were less impressed. Ha they just don't understand how musical a scharger is...
