Okay, so my 14 year old son did a wonderful job of changing the head gasket, water pump, cam belt etc on his sister's punto - only to find it then had compression in the crank case and was insisting on throwing oil out once it was started up.

Consequently a replacement engine was sourced and he has removed the old one and installed the replacement.

We now have no spark from either coil; and no fuel getting to the carb. Combining these facts with the fact that we have reset the fuel isolator the only thing I can think of is that we have missed an Earth connection somewhere - especially since there is a relay buzzing like a bumble bee on acid.

So, to the question - does anyone know where all the earthing points are, both on the bodywork and on the engine; and is there an immobiliser that might have got irritated when the engine was removed?

Thanks for reading this far!

The main earthing point for the engine sensors is at the rear of the block at the bottom in the middle. Strap from the battery goes onto the body and then onto the gearbox (try a jump lead from the battery neg to the gearbox and if that doesnt help try the bodywork).
Also try changing the crank sensor for the one on the old engine. This sensor will stop fuel and spark.
There is an immobiliser but this will leave the light on the dashboard.
Hope this gives you some starting points.
