Hi all, any idea on how much a secondhand gearbox will be for my cinq sporting 1.1, as im finding it difficult to change gears (especially getting it into 1st and 2nd gear), had a look on ebay and there is one on there for £200!!! they must be cheaper than that surely??

A lot cheaper!

But, your problems with 1st and 2nd are almost certainly clutch related. Try giving the adjuster 2 or 3 turns (clockwise, from the front) and see what effect that has.

Ok, thanks for that Fingers, i will get me other half to have a go at it tomorrow and see if that helps, will let you know! (he does come in handy for somethings) lol :p

Or, do it yourself.

Cheers

Done now, seems better. But alas this morning the f...ing thing would not start!!, it was turning over but not firing, think it may have been due to the fact that i had f... all petrol in it, the petrol light comes on really early like when it is just under half a tank on the gauge, (is this normal for the light to come on so early? ), so it seems im always putting petrol in it...the other half has told me not to get it so low in fuel...(oh well that told me) Im also thinking i may need a fuel filter as when i had it serviced the other week they didnt change the fuel filter so i may go and buy one, as sometimes my car does have a tendancy not to start, but this morning it took me about 10 mins to get it going..

its annoying, I removed my warning bulb to avoid that. I dont often let the tank go lower than 1/4 as the gauge isnt the most accurate in a cento

if adjusting your clutch cable only made it a bit easier to select 1st and 2nd, then try adjusting it a bit more, you will notice that the clutch pedal will sit higher than the brake pedal, and the bite will be more towards the top

I have half a tank of fuel and today it would not sart again?? im thinking i deffo need a fuel filter.. when i turn the ignition on and there is no red light that looks like a torch, thats when it dont start, but if i turn the ignition on and the red torch light is on it starts?? this light does go off after a few seconds, only now and again it tends not to start but recently it has done it more often..

Let's see if I've got this right.

If you turn the key and the "light like a torch" (actually the ECU warning light) comes on, the car starts. When the car starts it goes out within a few seconds. (This is normal, how it should be.)

But, sometimes when you turn the key the ECU warning light doesn't come on and the car doesn't start?

If so, Rallycinq will know the answer!

For the clutch, try another couple of turns.

Hi, yes thats right, when the light does not come on it wont start..the last couple of days it has been fine? so you dont think it is anything to do with me needing a new fuel filter then? (sorry i didnt know what that lil red light was called)
