Part of the website says if your dipstick is bone dry contact fiat for a longer one...is this a joke or a genuine occurance on fiats as mine is bone dry but no check oil light lol

Engine ?
The oil lamp is for oil pressure warning not oil level check. The oil level check is indicated on the LED mileage display if you have that option.
Put 2 dcl of oil in and see the dipstick after 4-5 mins, if the level rises, you have lack of oil.

Lol! Yes it is indeed a joke. Alfanige put that on there years ago on the basis that if your dip stick is dry you are not checking it often enough.

OI! Road safety nutters!! George Orwell ment '1984' to be a warning, NOT a template!

I see...

Seeing as I have not long purchased the car I can get away with not checking until now :p

Topped the oil up and it's ok, I'll do a full oil change in a week or so when I have the space :)
