I have the master red key for my bravo 1.8HLX, but the manual says i should have a 'code card" with 2 4 digit codes that accompany the red key. (although i does say a few paragraphs later that these are not supplied on uk models)
Is this the case?.......or do i need the codes if im getting replacement keys cut.....
replys appreciated......

Red master key is only required to obtain new keys with new codes.

Copies can be made of blue keys directly.

Fiat help line recently confirmed to me that the cards are not supplied in the UK market. Although I was given one when I had my lock/ECU system replaced.

So perhaps they do now??.

red keys and codes

thanks steve, since posting the message i have done a bit of research. I went to my fiat dealer this morning and asked for a replacement blue key. They said they couldn,t do it unless i had the 'remote codes' which come with the blue keys. I said i didnt have them but do have the Red key but still no joy, said i was looking in the region of °° upwards to replace the alarm remote in the roof.
I could not believe this was true so rang fiats main office and as you said they do not give out the codes to either to red or blue keys as insurance companies dont like it. Apparently they reside in a database held by the International Security Register (AKA Retainer Group). So i rang them and gave them my details and they have all the codes for my keys, although for obvious reasons would not give them to me. All i need to do apparently is get my fiat dealer to request them for me which may cost ?r so.
So either my fiat dealer is totally incompetent or they were trying to rip me off.......i shall be speaking to them tommorrow.
Hope this helps anyone else who has both keys but are worried that they dont have the codes.

Well Done!!

Danny, you are a star!! Please let me know how you get on as my dealer is truly farting around over this and insist that I have to pay for a new alarm!!!

 Kind regards

Steve (A frustrated Bravo owner who hates bastard main dealers)

retainer group and keys

we recently had the ecu repaired on my wifes 1.6 brava by our local main agent in order to get the work done we had to supply some basic info such as when we bought the car and where from, a couple of days later we got a letter from the retainer group asking if we would like to register for a once only fee of £15 and they would add our details to there data base hope this helps regards brian

will let you know.......

cheers steve! Although i havn't had the chance to talk to my FIAT dealer yet , am going to do so tommorrow. Fingers crossed they can get my keys cut using the info from Retainer group..........will let you know the outcome......
(still amazes me that my fiat dealer didn't suggest this in the first place)

keys?codes?myths?half truths?dealers!

Ok guys ...if you care to look back a few pages on the forum you will find lots of messages regarding the code systems .remember that the systems now fitted are different from older systems as they are developed .......but operate much in the same way.
The code card that is mentioned in the hand book was initaly passed to the owner of the new car by the dealer but the insurance market in the uk put a stop to that practice and the details are now held by the national security register.....but they only have codes refering to code and mechanical cut of the key and sometimes radio codes .....more recently they might have the code for radio transmiting keys ...but dont count on it its only recently this has come about ,so having the red key lets you program new keys to the code system the start up code held by the nvsr only lets you start the car using the emergency procedure, nothing else .the mechanical cut number lets the dealer order you a new key using the numbers so no need for you to leave a key with them if you have it .....the radio trasmiter codes are individual to each key and are 4 numbers that originaly come on a small flimsy bit of paper attatched to the keys and are usually passed to the first owner at hand over by sales men but only if you have alarm or central locking it looks somthing like this 4.5.6.7.
the only other way to get a code card for all the use it is or the codes on it are to change the entire lock kit ....the new card comes with the new kit and refers to the kit you are fitting but this is usually only ordered with a complete ecu change because the electronic code on the card refers to the chip in the master key and thats why you dont get it in a normal lock set

To Danny...

Danny,

Hello mate, I cant believe it either, I almost paid out 200 + for a new alarm system about 3 months ago but I thought I would hold back and monitor the forum regularly for updates and you are the man to have done it!! I have been in touch with My dealer in Bournemouth, and they are faxing my details over this sat. I just have to await the response? I hope they will do it. Its really awkward utilising one key, knowing that if it fails, I wont get into the f*ckin car!!!

Kind Regards

Steve in Bournemouth 

fingers crossed...............

i went into fiat dealer today and explained the situation to them, like you just said the fiat dealer reckoned that they probably wont hold the immobilizer and remote codes even though when i phoned Reatainer Group they said that they did hold the remote/immobilizer codes. So basically i dont know whats going to happen untill they get thier fax back.
Fingers crossed they will have what i need.
Steve..........i hope i havnt got to hopes up for nothing!!
