Hi there,
I'm currently building a Locost Kitcar and have recently taken it for its SVA test. Unfortunately it failed on its brake efficiency test and as a result I have fitted a brand new master cylinder.
The master cylinder is from a Mark 1 Fiat UNO. We have just fitted it in the car and it seems to work ok other than the fact that there is a small hole (drilling) in the master cylinder near the flange that joins to the servo. It audibly draws in air when the car is running and I can't understand why. It seems as though it is meant to be there but it certainly does not sound right that air is being drawn in through it. You can feel that there is still some servo assistance but all I can only see that this hole is making things less efficient. It is definately coming from this hole and is not a result of a poor join or anything like that. The old master cylinder is exactly the same as far as I can see and had this hole to but it has been blocked up with rust and muck over the years by the look of things and so it never used to make this noise.
Do you know what this could be at all and what its there for?
Thanks
